The new racial changes have her confused. With so many races losing their identities, she can't tell us apart anymore.

    Race change?

That's what I'm curious, is this a race change thing or it has always been like this?

So... When you race change, NPCs still refer to you as a member of your old race ? That's weird.

Maybe they mean culturally Imperial rather than ethnically Imperial. Since you have to be one of the 3 alliances, you presumably 'can't' be a current member of the Imperial forces.
Unless you're a spy, but then you'd presumably be good at pretending you're not an Imperial spy.

I am guessing its because the dialog was added before they added in the imperial race. Imperials were not added till later when they released the Imperial edition. Another reason is the the npc might not be able to tell if your a non Dc Race and as such won't know the difference between a nord or imperial.. This is the same reason why vampire npcs in Rivenspire won't realize your a vampire even when your a vampire. Like other Vampires are blinded to that fact in the vanilla content because back then I think they did not think players would become vampires till they are level forty but back then players with skill could kite and become one at level three. If they had to go back. I think they might have added or included unique dialog had they known players would want to become vamps and werewolves instantly and not later in game and thus been more prepared for it. If they could bring back some of the voice actors they can make some edits and allow those vamps to recognize that you are one of them. I do know there is one redguard in the Alkirr that did recognize race from what I recall he would even know your a bosmer. I think those types of dialogs were later added for those that did have any race any alliance maybe. So Dialog that recognizes non faction races was the kinds that were added in later in development. With the new content they can add racial dialog and they have done more to even include npcs recognizing your a vampire or werewolf in some quests.

They originally designed the game to be different then it is now and that shows through dialog. Back then it was a three way race war with races working together races that typically hate each other working together. The vanilla was designed around it. Then there was Any Race any alliance which I got when I got the boxed edition of the game. There was a code for it. So Before the crown store was a thing I was one of the ones who could play any race any alliance. Basically I think they have so many voice dialogs, or npcs they might not be able to keep track of them all. They could edit and fix them but they would need to get the various voice actors who voiced those npcs to do it and add in code so they recognize racials and what race you are and well I think it takes time for them to do stuff like that and they have so much they have to work on so. Maybe one day but don't get your hopes up. My guess is it will remain how it is. As they are more focused on New content. Maybe one day they will update the Vanilla till then you just got to live with the fact the redguard does even know your an imperial.

IIRC, the entire main quest of Reaper's March, the NPC's treated my Khajiit like he wasn't one of them. It was very disappointing.

For Imperials is even worse, they say they are GLAD the character isn't an imperial, even though he is and with full Imperial legion officer armor.

Who? I just picked an imperial npc first name and another's last name. I was going for Quintus Valerius but it was already taken. I'll look this Ken Dodd up.

Probably some flag who is not changed who is used for races in dialogue / reactions.

You have some weird stuff other places to because of one tamriel. Yes it was also true for the vet zones but explained then
