Stam DK - Race Change?

My new main is a Stam DK Orc, I want a race that is pretty straighforward to re-spec back and forth from DPS and Tank, PvE and PvP. After the upcoming racial changes would going Argonian be a wrong move?

If you’re looking to at least be effective across all of those roles, argonian is not looking like a great choice. I’ll be doing the same thing and swapping to Imperial. Dunmer could also work, and maybe khajiit but they’re a stretch.

Edit- keeping the orc is actually a great choice too. They will be mathematically the best damage race both pvp and pve, and tanking is the one role that doesn’t absolutely require you to be a specific race to be effective.

Nope not really.
Orc could still be fine.
If you want something new pick nord for more ulti regen with good stats and almost major resolve and ward passive in it.
Imperials got cost reduction with substain but very little with high stats.
Red guards got cost reduction only in the weapon skill line with substain.

Toc de Malsvi

Imperial should be pretty good all around stam+tank.
Orc should be pretty good all around stam, and okay tank.

Dark Elf should be pretty good all around stam+mag, okay tank.
Khajit should be roughly similar to Dark Elf.

Argonian will be a good tank still but not very good dps, good for almost all roles pvp.
Nord will be a good tank and pretty good for almost all roles pvp.

Nah keep it, as it looks now on PTS it's the best DD race, and tanking is the least race dependent role in the game.

Orc also gets 2 max resource bonuses, and a heal on doing damage with a weapon. Sounds like great passives for tanking to me.

I'll be going Nord, for PvP (heavy armour, sword and board, 2H) ulti regen will be amazing, (with werewolf hide set too) and the resistances are great as well

I would keep Orc to be honest, but if you want a race change so much, redguard and nord are options that offer good versatility between tanking and stamina dps, for both PvP and PvE.

If PvE DPS is more important to you than tanking --> stick to Orc
If PvE taking is more important to you than DPS --> switch to Imperial
Otherwise Nord could be worth checking out, but their PvE DPS will be a bit lacking.

For PvP all 3 races look decent, but imo Orc takes the top spot.

I appreciate this thread. I want to pick Nord...I really do. They're my 2nd favorites TES race. I'd love to be versatile with my sDK - I'd like to primarily DPS in PvE and PvP with the ability to do some 4-man tanking if it came up. But, I'm sure Nord would hurt more than help. The new ulti-gen passive is not really going to help me in PvE at least, and Nord doesn't get any weapon damage bonuses.

Thanks for the insight. You're pretty much correct as it pertains to sets and rotation. It's a shame that stamina DPS gets carried by sets like Relequen.
