What is the role of a magsorc in BG ?

I've reached lvl 50 for the first time and I plan to mostly play him in BG, probably cyrodile.

What is the main role of a magsorc in there ?

AoE pressure ?
Single target burst ?
Spamming dmg shield to be tanky and annoying as hell ?

The class is bether in group or rolling for solo ganking ?

the role is whatever you want to play them as.

Since the shield changed i've seen a lot of people run a more tanky setup on magsorcs for the shield resistances and the health for bigger shields.

you could be a healer as well. I cant speak to that as i've never ran a sorc healer, but some people can be very effective at it.

I've seen a lot of zoo builds in BG's too and even though i do have a pet sorc (my crafter) I personally don't think it would be much fun for my playstyle. I see them running with werewolves with the ult that has more doggos come out so you are literally fighting an entire wildlife refuge.


most i see though just shield stack and burst you down with their combo. single target.

are you playing solo or with friends? because that can make a huge factor on what role you want to be.


I guess the answer to your question is there isn't an answer and you can be any role you want to be if you build accordingly.

Not wrong... when your alone in a BG it is propably the best class aside from Stamsorc/stamblade.
The kite is strong with this one...
And some matches are won by being present in a situations/places as fast as possible

Don't let anyone tell you magsorcs are bad in BGs. They're just bad players who still haven't adapted to the Murkmire changes. It's one of the best specs available for solo players atm.

Well I plan to solo for some times, till I get some skill at playing this game.

What would be a group class for group PvP beside healer and tanks ?

shield spam till your opponent goes afk and burst him down. Thats pretty much what pvp comes down to, tanking then spanking. It's not very different per class, other then mag often using shields and stam troll kings.

I think you got it backwards. The new passive is actually going to make it easier for magsorcs to bring down opponents' health to execute range.

IMO the upcoming Implosion changes are a buff for magsorcs in PvP (not enough shock dmg abilities to proc it reliably), and a nerf for stamsorcs, who could proc it left and right with tons of physical dmg DoTs.

Depends.

Sometimes I go off healer and get rid of light armor shield for rapid Regen slot the matriarch and resto ultimate with bloodspawn and eyes of Mara back bar so I can spam resto ultimates. While still dropping my combo front bar.

Normal bursty builds are also very darn effective. Just to rack up kills.

I tested out a filthy toxic pet build the other night just for funsies and cause I was sick of all the warden premades. Besides some salter Walters it was kinda fun to solo Zerg someone but it is much funner to burst em.

Or I go tank and just try to disrupt the other team with roots snares and stuns. And big shields with alot of health recovery.

Sorc is a good class. Others are stronger solo and alot more useful in coordinated groups but sorc is good.

Depends on your build. If you build a tank then the later, if you build an all out damage machine yiu can be the groups execute.

Hell you can be the hybid DD/Healer.

I love it when people accuse magsorcs of kill-stealing. Some of us don’t just hang in the back and spam wrath, y’know... I work hard for my kills, and have built my sorc to pack a huge punch while also supporting the team.

HOWEVER, wrath will NOT proc implosion anymore as it wont exist, therefore magsorcs wont be kill stealing by hitting them with wrath when they are around 25%hp

You still don't understand mechanics of the game/sorcs. Wrath was not killing people because of implosion. Wrath dealt more than 25% of health all by itself. Sorcs will still kill steal just fine.

Implosion was more useful to stam based bleed builds than to mag.

@Na0cho Someone can be at 50% health while fighting a player from team A, then have wrath casted on them by a sorc from team B, then player from team A lands an attack that takes him to 20%, then wrath procs which kills the player. Result = kill stolen by mages wrath by sorc from team B (who conributed nothing else to the killing of the player). This has absolutely nothing to do with implosion.
