So trying to decide whether to go magblade or stamblade

I've been trying out different classes but trying to stick to one variation of each one I go through for now at least to at least get a feel of each class and how it is to play them and this is the last one I have to really go for. So I'm hoping for some help with deciding whether to go for a magicka build or stamina build for nightblade since it's the only one I haven't really given a proper go of so far. I usually like to be able to solo quests well enough when I can but would like it to be still viable for groups when needed. So what are the pros and cons of both sides? I'd like to try to stick to just one variation if I can for now.

Because of this part of your response, I suggest Magicka Nightblade. Stamina Nightblade can pump out more damage, but from my experience it is one of the harder classes to survive on, especially if you aren't playing with a skilled healer. With Magblade you can do damage and heal yourself at the same time.

Magica nightblade can be good healers. I have healed veteran Dungeons on my magblade and have good DPS while healing. If i switch gear i got high DPS and decent sustain. I havent checked wich get better DPS With DOT, but my stamblade got higher burst damage and is in my opinion better for PVP if You are into that. If you like healing+DPS then go mag, also you can cloak more and run hidden between enemies.
For the PVE content i really like my magblade, good self heals and sneaky.

Try magblade they're kinda unique compared to stam classes where most of the skills are same.
    2000 CP • 18 Maxed Characters • 6 Altmers • 7 Redguards • Necromancer Orc • Warden Dunmer • DK Nord • DK Imperial • Templar Breton

If you play a stamblade, you should take it ASAP to PvP to get rank in the Alliance skill line up to 6 for Vigor and Caltrops.

If you don't feel like doing that, play a magblade instead.

Stamblades make great thieves, especially they're of a stealthy race (historically Bosmer or Khajit, but being changed to Khajit only later this month). And so for quite a while my overland main has been a Bosmer stamblade. But I have max CP, the ability to easily get any dropped overland gear I want, etc., etc. Frankly, questing would be super-easy on any spec, just a little slower. And it takes a LOT of skill points to make the whole thing work.

Magblade is a better fit if you're newer to the game.

Stamblade if you like melee, magblade if you like range. You can also tank with enough skill points and the right gear as a stamblade, or heal dungeons as a magblade.

Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

Magblades are pretty great for PvE. But, stamina can heal very well with vigor and for running around having more stamina is better. The biggest factor will be ranged or melee?

I'm good with either ranged or melee either way as long as it's easy enough to use for what I'll be using it for. I mostly PVE so as long as they work for PVE stuff and I can solo quests that are doable solo when I want to I'm good.

Then I will also add this. Next patch a few races will be good for both specs. Dunmer will feature 1875 stamina and magicka with 258 wpn/spell damage as a bonus. This race would allow you to change specs to stamina or magicka if you find you like one over the other somewhere down the road. It also gives fire resistance which means you can more easily play as a stage 2 vampire giving you 20% stamina and magicka recovery furthering your ability to swap between the two specs. This is what I will race change my NB to on February 25th when the race changes go live. Plus we will all get three free race changes so you can save up and if at some point you decide you really like magicka or stamina better then you can go with a min/max race. But I believe Dunmer will be a very good choice for this class.
