ESO isn't perfect, but i'm loving it so far

you know, i just feel that i should share my experience with you people about how i'm loving this game.
for starters, i should say that i started the game when it launched, i even bought the imperial edition so i could play as imperial (i just loved the armor design), but honestly? i got bored of the game after a little more than 1 month. honestly? i don't remember why, it was just kind of boring.
i returned to the game 2 months ago, more than 4 years after stopping playing, and idk why, but the game have a refreshing air in it. sure, it gets boring sometimes, but i always have something to do at my own pace.
there's so much to do, i have so much freedom in my character's skills and builds. professions are kind of nice to farm if you have enough space.
after 2 months all i did was finish the EP quests and still didn't started the others alliances, and i didn't even bought any of the dlcs/expansions. just playing the standart game so far.
i'm loving this game so far, of course, it's not perfect, because it's weird you choosing a faction and after the main questline, it allows you to play as someone from another faction.
i just hope i get a credit card so i can buy ESO plus + expansions (i need an international credit card since it's not in my country and there's no option to use money instead of credit card, sadly) and have a lot more fun.
the limited inventory space is sad, but i can survive.
well, that's all i wanted to say, sorry the bad english and for talking too much. just wanted to say how the game changed for the better, at least for me.

Despite what some of the forum posters would have think, this is a pretty good game overall. No game is perfect, nor will there ever be one.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

It's taken years to get here, but ESO today is a fantastic game. There's always going to be bugs and glitches. Imperfections. But, it really is an amazing game.

ESO is arguably the best active MMORPG on the market right now. I personally think it has passed WoW in terms of quality these days.

to be honest, i'm just a bit disapointed about the faction thing.
outside cyrodil, it just make it pointless to choose a faction since sooner or later we will be questing in every map, regardless of the faction owning it.
but overall, it gives you soo much freedom compared to WoW.
we can choose countless skills and have countless combinations. some horrible and some awesome.
ESO may have 4 classes (6 if you have dlcs/expansions) but you have so much freedom that you can play however you like, unlike WoW where you have just a set of talents where everybody is the same.
we have a lot of sets that can make our gameplay more diverse and fun.
and overall the community, at least for me, is a lot less toxic and more friendly.

The factions seem to just be for pvp zones for the whole alliance war thing also I'm pretty sure guilds are faction locked in regards to who can join them. But other than that later in the game it has little else to it. I see people from other factions even wandering around the early areas that were for my faction.

And I have to agree with this post. ESO was one of the few MMOs I could get into. Only other one I really got into before this was Star Wars the Old Republic. I tried WoW for a short time because a friend asked me to but didn't really catch my interests I also attempted to play Final Fantasy 14 which I know has some dedicated fans to it and I tried really hard to get into it but I lost interest pretty fast to be honest. I don't normally do much of MMOs but this one I actually really enjoyed. One thing I loved was the quests and especially that they managed to put in quests with morally grey choices. But it's more than just that the entire game has been a lot of fun. Sure no game is perfect but so far I've had a lot of fun playing it.

    Hey, welcome :)

This is the game I've stayed with the longest. It's really hard to get into, for some reason, but once you're in, you're kinda stuck ;) Like a pitcher plant. Weirdly, the beginning and the two-month markers were where I felt the least connected. If I hadn't been playing GW2 as a backup game, I'd have never lasted here. And now it's my only game for the foreseeable future.

Welcome! I agree with you. I jumped in with both feet, hit the ground running, and don't figure I'm leaving any time soon. I started TES with Arena on its release date, and have played every game as they released. Finally played so much Skyrim I just couldn't do any more - and here I am.

I will still play TES VI - assuming I live that long, and that it's not VR! But for the foreseeable future, I'm loving ESO. Two accounts, 21 characters, both ESO+. It's not as much as I had in WoW or RIFT (7 accounts in WoW, 5 in RIFT).... but hey, I always pay for games I play - either sub like I did with the other two, or sub ESO+ and buy more crowns like I do here.

    It's a great game. I love it!

I have my main crafter, who knows all the trades, and then I had 2 characters I kept beside a banker who held all the various components. It takes a little bit of time and money to max bank space, character inventory, and mount storage, but it is very doable. Also, chests for housing are great as well.

well, as i said, i'm playing the standart game, no dlc or eso plus.
i have money, but no credit card, so it would be easier if they added something else besides credit card so more people could be included in eso plus. (idk how pay pal works, never used in my country)
having mules must be hard, because i would need money to increase bank and inventory space, right?
but i got to play the eso plus trial, so i bought a lot of crafting materials to keep in the craft bag so i could give my inventory some breath when the trial was over XD
but i'm enjoying it. in pvp i suck so bad, i'm doing fine only in pvp as a tank. who knows, maybe later i will create a char for pvp only. i have many options but no hurry.
well, i'm having fun, that's all that matters

I played beta and everyone I knew was negative about it so I never got into it after until early 2017. Tried to convince them that it was better to give it a go and ended up leaving ESO after a couple of weeks to play something else my friends were playing. Started playing with my brother last month on ps4 and he was surprised he had never played the best ES experience out there. Now after a few level 50s we switched to PC and are still playing. Cant find any games with this size and scope in story telling. Glad I rediscovered it.

    1. We like to flame the game cuz we care...otherwise we wouldn't be here and the game wouldn't exsist without us...it is us the flamers who burn the devs into working hard(though not hard enough sadly) and it is the tremendous amount of casuals who keep talking !@#$% about this game while having really no idea or even got to the dark depths of this game like me and a handful of others did...sadly the reason eso gets a negative vibe its cuz of those that have no idea what they are talking about are in greater numbers and waste 2 much time on pointing out how "bad" eso is instead of digging inside of it...
    2. As my personal opinion I always rage about eso on basic stuff and I call the game !@#$ but that cuz I pick on issues that are here since launch and should had been fixed a long time ago and instead we keep getting crown crates cuz !@#$% keep buying them...seriously ZOS I miss crown store items...not 2 costumes and some pets with probably a mount every 3-6 months...WTB cosmetics and other cool stuff...different colors for hair/fur/scales...get out of the cat box there is a whole room to explore...and regarding the overall of the game...in comparison ESO has no actual competition...from a veteran perspective the game is mediocre cuz we already cleared everything on it...the same old issues are still there and never addressed or it takes years to address...(the built in awesome guild store addon that seriously took you people 5 years to implement in to the base game? you do realize all those black sacrament rituals you got from the console players cuz you made them go through that hell...and yes im a pc player defending consoles...that should say something)the sluggish combat and spikes in trials...the ignorance on vMoL that keeps crashing people randomly ruining the fun, the pvp lagfest that turned cyrodill into a wasteland and imperial city into a barren no-mans land where you can barely find some tel-var scavengers(no im not sorry for farming you for 5 minutes after you farmed for 2 hours >:3) and many others that for us looks average or mediocre...but from a new player perspective the game looks awesome...rly good and realistic graphics in comparison to other games that are cartoonish/anime/or worse (draw distance fog could use a 50% increase cuz even at 100% u barely see anything after 50 meters in front of u...srsly) smooth and lag free pve gameplay...rly good story telling and interesting quests...voice acted npc...facial animations(yes when this was implemented I was literally hyped and it never gets old) interesting classes and playstyles ways to group with random people to do stuff(I guess so...I never pugged since launch so im not rly sure on this one but its what others say) rly good soundtracks and immersive world that rly makes a nice atmosphere especially if you are into RP (be warned though...I am watching >:3 loading mudball gun) quite nice and helpful community (which makes me puke sometimes with all the lovely-dovely I see in zone chat) and many more things that im 2 lazy to enlist here but I pointed out what I think its most attractive to new players
    3. So yes...overall ESO its a good game...or at least above average...or slightly beneath good which clearly worth the time and the money(say no to crown crates! *evil cat face*)

I bought it one year after its launch, I got bored of the game just after reaching level 12 or so, like you I had the imperial edition and even had the any race any faction thingy. But I just couldn't keep going on, I was so bored, granted, a lot of this has to do with the class system, I guess my brain can't adapt to the TES title but having class, I mean, I know they are not limited like most RPGs and its needed to have a proper balance, but still, hurts me not being able to study different schools of magic independently, came back recently, the game seems to be in a really good shape, I can't wait to give a really good try.

i won't quote people, but i'll try to answer in the best of my capabilities everything i think from the posts.

1- i won't lie, ESO sucked when it launched, it was fun at the first levels, but it was just boring. i can't really explain what made it boring at the time, maybe because i didn't see it as a MMO, but as skyrim 2.0 (yeah, only played skyrim. tried oblivion but couldn't take it. i hated when you talked to someone and the npc just got so close that it almost licked your face)
it can explain why i choose the EP. i liked skyrim and i hated the dominion XD

2- honestly? IMO the developers have no experience or just sucks in making a faction war. the main quest was a lot better when we fought molag bal, but the faction war? to me, it's a big let down. i can choose any faction and i would see no difference. maybe because of the race thing where we can be any race in any faction. giving every race to every faction makes the alliance war pointless.

3- the pvp is one of the best i ever saw. sure, it sucks being killed in 5 seconds. but it's awesome have a 3-way battle. laying siege, using siege weapons. you know, playing a "real war". a real warfront i must say and i loved it, i just need to learn to pvp.

4- i agree that we mustmake it clear to developers what we believe is the best thing for the game, but sadly in most games (idk if that's the case in ESO), but usually the vocal minority who just want to screw the game balance and fun makes things hard, pressing developers to do something stupid for the game sometimes. constructive critics are the way to go, but the developers must be willing to listen.

5- the freedom of the game is awesome. you can choose any class, pick any role and wear any kind of armor. sure, some builds are better and others worst, but if you want to have fun, the sky is the limit.

i'm glad i decided to give the game another chance, it didn't disapointed me so far and i hope i can enjoy it to the fullest

Nobody says ESO is bad game, it's piece of art. But like many proverbs say, a fly in the ointment, or a spoon of tar in barrel of mead can make all product taste bitter when you got that fly or tar.
I mean those problems with loading screens or when you are thrown out of the game in the mid of the battle or when you can't logon for a day due to steam issue or when your race is stripped of lore based stealth and disease resistance to make it more "distinctive".. it's even more disappointing in comparison to otherwise good content.

Yes, it's a decent TES game with almost all good and bad sides of singleplayer games inherited. My personal main concern about TES: Online is it's narrative. Pardon my language, but the best way to describe it is "fractured but whole".

I know there are a lot of Elder Scrolls fans that will never give ESO a try because it isn't a main titled entry. That said, as someone that has played every ES game in existence (including Battlespire and Redguard) I can honestly say ESO is my favorite of all of them. ESO has taken the rich lore of this universe and actually done something with it.

This Elder Scrolls fan has been playing almost continuously since launch.

I never really understood the shunning that ESO gets from some Elder Scrolls fans. There is no doubt that this is an Elder Scrolls game, and the largest of them all. The writng, art, and lore scream Elder Scrolls, and i guess that is what matters to me.

At this point, there is more stuff to do in this game than all of the other vanilla TES games out there. Some of these things are not even possible in the single player games, like PVP, group, and social activities. This is why it is hard for me to go back to Skyrim and earlier games. They seem small, lonely, and sort of boring.

Is everything perfect, no. I can't say that any of the Elder Scrolls games are. Thousands of hours in this game, and hundreds of hours in each of the single player games*, says that I am pretty tolerant of less-than-perfect, though.

    * I don't know the hours for each of the previous games, but it has to be in the hundreds, so I go with that.
