Magdk question

Hello everyone. Recently started messing around with my magdk. Currently running bsw, sun, zaan, vma staff. Hitting between 37-39k no undaunted leveled or mages guild. Question is what sets could i pair with bsw to push some more dps besides Siroria? Should i retrait to bloodthirsty? Thanks in advance.

    As a set, besides siroria, spell strategist would give you more DPS on a single target fight. But the gear you have seems nice enough, I would get undaunted and mages guild plus practice before buying/farming other sets, if you don't want Siroria that is.

    I run elf bane on my magdk, with burning spell weave. Works great.

    I am using silks of the sun... but you are already out performing my dps.

    Law of julianos is also very good and easy to get.

    DK has no Execute so Bloodthirsty aint that great on them, better stick with 3x Arcane on a magDK.
    It likely will increase your DMG on a Dummy, but not by as much as on other classes like a NB (execute classes)

    Ok so ill stick to 3 arcane. I know Siroria is suppose to be bis but how useful would it be in actual fights? I guess thats why im hesitant to farm the pieces.

    It feels clunky at first but when you get used to the timing it's very good.
    Direct damage with single target ability so whip, burning embers or even your staff enchantment place the ring on the ground for 10s. Once you stand on the ring you get a stack every second. Stacks persist for 5s if you leave the ring - and there rarely any mechanics that require you to keep moving in the way you cant step into ring in 5s. It's tricky, but it is possible to keep the stacks all the time. Best if you use some sort of addon that allows you to stack them.

    So far I've gotten the best DPS out of Zaan/BSW/Spell Strategist on a dummy. I can't seem to break 40k with Siroria. I hear MS/BSW is probably the best overall DPS output setup for tests, but I don't have a MS or BSW staff to push it.

    I'm on console and play over decent wifi. With the above setup I can hit over 42k routinely assuming my internet isn't too laggy using my own ele drain.

    Any feedback for me/OP is appreciated! I'm usually tanking/support so my dps skillz are lacking.

    @Krayl if you dont mind me asking whats your rotation? It looked like you were using engulfing flames after burning embers.

    Also i tested julianos and got similar results 37-39k.

    MagDK rotation is pretty simple. Prebuff with Flames of Oblivion. Trap -> Blockade -> Eruption ->Embers -> Engulfing -> Drop Standart of Might -> Refresh blockade -> 3-4x Whip. Refresh the DoTs as they run out. It can be difficult on consoles, but everything has similar duration so its rather simple. Keep blockade up as much as you can, will came handy when you get the vMA staff. Always do a light attack between any ability casted.

    I've tried a couple rotations and the one that seems to give me the best numbers:

    Ele Drain target, Pre-buff FoO

    LA, Trap, LA, Erruption, LA, Blockade, Swap
    LA, Embers, LA, Engulfing, LA + Whip X 5, Swap
    LA, Blockade, Swap
    LA, Embers, LA, Engulfing, LA + Whip X 2 Swap

    Repeat (starting with FoO)

    Ether reapply ele drain as needed or after the X 2 whips at the end.

    Obviously you're not running drain when you're actually in a group, so you're also losing one mage's guild abil on the front bar for those passives until the next update.

    Never open up with a LA, when trap is placed and setting up (needs 1-2sec to proc)

    you waste those 1 -2 sec when starting with a LA, which ends up in a DPS loss.

    also after you placed the trap, dont do a LA, but start with your first skill directly (annimationtime and trap loadtime end up hitting arround the same moment)

    DK rota is semi static, but there are a few things that need to be kept in Mind.

    Blockade -> IF it falls off, reapply ASAP, its the highest priority skill / DOT
    AS Long as you are on frontbar, the rotation can be random, replace Embers and Engulfing as soon as they run out, (IF blockade and engulfing run out at the same time, go for blockade)

    Do NOT drop standart on the first rotation, but on the first time you reapply all your backbar skills (standart before swapping back to frontbar), this will allow you to stay on frontbar longer, and you only have to swap back to backbar for 1 blockade cast.

    The Segment of Rota looks something like this:

    XXX -> LA -> Eledrain -> Swap
    Eruption -> LA -> Blockade -> LA -> Trap -> LA -> FoO -> LA -> Standart of might -> Swap
    Embers -> LA -> Engulfing -> LA -> Whip -> LA -> Whip -> LA -> Whip -> LA -> Swap
    Blockade -> LA -> Swap
    Whip -> LA -> Whip -> LA -> (Whip -> LA, , embers or Engulfing down, then they have prio) -> LA -> Eledrain -> Swap
    and complete backbar again

    missing out on a Magesguild skill (in this gcase shooting star) is not always the chase, in certain fights, where AOEdmg is necessary, the Destro Ult will outdmg SoM easy...bossfights well jeah there the meteor mey be a small DPS boost with the changes yep
