✭✭Well online definitions say scuttle is a shallow basket with a hinged lid or a certain type of hatch on a ship. Beetle scuttle brings up search results pointing back to this game. Beetles often do have armor covers for their wings. If I have to guess, it's the connective tissue from these wing covers where they attach. Or it might be the covers themselves ground up into paste. A scuttle is a scoop for carrying coal, or the amount if coal carried by a scuttle, or the method of deliberately sinking a ship so it can be raised again, or a furtive movement like when sneaking.
So, based on the above, the Scuttle could be the back of the Carapace that is shaped like a bowl.
