Are Dunmer viable Templars?

So straight up, I've seen a lot of hate over the racial changes and Dunmers not producing like they used to come next patch, but I've always been curious to roll a Templar and Dunmer seemed like the right fit.

Thoughts? Even if it is a hybrid Templar, will Dunmer be viable for PVP? How about PVE?

Again, not looking for BIS per say, just competitive and fun.

That really depends on where you place viable on the scale.

Dunmer will always (even after changes) be a safe option to play as they're good all rounders in bonuses (more so after the update), most of the BiS talk is for end game super competitive content.

Have good player skill and Dunmer will do you well in anything you choose to do.

a hybrid, of any class and 'being viable' don't really work in ESO. You'll be able to play it in zergs for PvP and do okay, and you'll be able to do overland questing PvE and do okay, but anything beyond that it's not really going to work very well.

Definitely not competitive. And fun is subjective so I can't answer there.

I mean without knowing what you considerer viable I don't know what else to give.

If you're comparing raw DPS with a race specialised in Magicka/Stamina it may not perform as well.
If you're fighting a player in PvP with the exact same level of player skill then maybe the sustain of another race will be the decider.
If you want to have the #1 rank in a leaderboard there might be other choices.

However you're not going to be garbage just because you chose Dunmer rather than Breton or Orc, player skill makes up for much more than anything else in this game.

For PvE, dunmer is maybe not the best, but still a solid choice. Especially if you want to try out things often and maybe change from stamina to magicka and back from time to time. The dps in PvE will be overall pretty solid, if you manage to sustain.

In PvP dunmer will be a beast. Stat wise it almost provides a free shacklebreaker bonus, which is very needed on every build. It does not matter, if you choose a magicka or stamina spec, since the offstat is always important to maintain (on stamplars you need magicka to cleanse and on magplar you need stamina to block more, break free and dodge). So for PvP dunmer provides very solid base stats, which is great for every build. It enables to focus more on offensive powers or defensive powers, since you can pretty much ignore the offstat numbers. Also it enables having still decent offstats despite using bufffood like witchmothers potent brew or dubious camoran throne, which are very much used in PvP for the alleviated regen.

    Agreed.
Being able to have 16k plus stam and use witchmother without shacklebreaker seems very nice.
Personally I can't decide between Breton or Dunmer for my Magplar next patch.

Despite the name of many of Templar skills only ones uses fire damage rest are all magic damage ... So you'll do better with altmer or Breton ... But in all honesty most players won't notice that much of a difference in the grand scheme of everyday content ... So it would down to do you want to squeeze every possible but of damage you get from them or are you happy to get a playable average n enjoy the dunmer for more asthetic or Role play reasons

Templars spend A LOT of magicka. It's hard enough to sustain and still do damage with an Altmer. I don't think Dunmer will make a good match with a class that already has sustain issues.

My Dunmer Magplar is only being buffed by the incoming patch. PvP only though, PvE builds might be a different story.
