Melee damage? Direct damage?

It's been confused me for a long time. This two types of dmg seem simple enough. Melee is self explanatory and direct dmg is the opposite of dot dmg. But...

Is lava whip melee damage? Venomous claw? They are both in melee range.

Is Inferno direct dmg or dot dmg? It lasts for 15 seconds but only fire a fireball DIRECTLY towards someone every 5 sec. How about blade cloaks?

Is the first tick of twin slashes direct dmg? Is the immediate dmg of cleave/talons direct dmg?

Is light attack with a melee weapon melee dmg? Direct dmg? Both?

Generally, magic damage doesn't get classified as melee, Stam moves do. So no idea if whip procs selenes or ravager. The only sets that matter when it comes to melee damage

Flames of Oblivion is direct damage. It also scales with whatever stats are higher.

Yes, 2 different direct damage hits.

2h Cleave, yes, talons is also a direct damage hit.

With Stam weapons, yes to both.

I THINK that direct damage is everything that deals damage upon impact. Venomous Claw it should affect the damage on the hit, not the dot after. I may be wrong because this CP thing is a mess

I asked about whip cuz I have an Imperial mag DK and I wonder if whip would proc red diamond, but since it will be changed to direct dmg in racial update I think it won't matter much actually.

One thing I really wish is if ESO would list in the tooltips what kind of damage a ability does. I figure on PC add-ons help with this greatly but on console it's either who knows or look it up on the internet. ZOS really really needs to update what counts as what in the tooltips.

Happy to help but the current red diamond passive is really garbage. No reason to try to build around it. With the racial update coming though, seems nice for all builds, there is a lot more direct damage and that passive ought to be procing loads more then currently.
