Before anyone starts to discuss about dis, Rich clearly said they have no intentions to implement a class change system.

I also think that this needs to be a thing but the answer was clear. No point in arguing imo.

    okay?

Yeah but then you can just invest a few hours and start a new character as well, what's the difference?

+ Helloooo it's for free then.

You want to go necromancer, right?

You have my sympathies. Same problem for me with warden. I'm only just now nearing completion of all of the tedious time gated grind.

Even then, I'm stuck with a great name, all my motifs and recipes on a character I now kind of hate.

I would also really like to see it, which is why I'm sad they outright stated it's not going to happen. But I also don't quite understand - if you were to lose all progress, there's no difference to just making a new character?

The reason why I would want it is that I don't want to lose all the progress I've made on my main character. I'd want to class change him into a Warden, which wasn't even available when I began playing in 2015.

But yeah, not going to happen sadly. :(

I don’t do the kill em off and start again.

My toons are all max CP and I’ve put in six months training their ponies. Plus they each have their own characteristics and personas. I don’t want to change their race. But I don’t want them to be totally crushed because ZOS decided to change the rules a year after I rolled them.

The annoying thing is that the class I chose for each of them was based on the racial passives (aside from my Breton DK tank, which was clearly doing it wrong, but he was my first and he’s had a tough life). So it’s this that is the issue for me. So from a user perspective it makes sense to be able to change either race or class or both for existing characters given the racial passives have been messed with so comprehensively.

I’m not sure what the big problem is for ZOS, other than they probably can’t actually do the programming to implement it even if they wanted to. It can’t be more complicated than changing a few entries in your character’s database and allowing the user to reset their skillpoints. It’s not like any part of it is a unique character identifier which can’t be messed with. So it’s clearly a choice from ZOS.

It’s like let’s change the rules but we won’t allow you to change to accommodate this unless you pay us more bucks. Another bright FU from management.

Building up new class skills is easy. It is horse training and non-class skills (undaunted, FG, MG, alliance war, crafting for potion/food optimization) that can become very tedious after you've done it on numerous characters.

I wanted to fully evaluate a bow/bow playstyle and totally brought up a stamsorc, stamblade and stamward to do this. They all have the whole package (L10 undaunted, loads of skill points, 60/60/60 horse training) and each represent over 6 months of effort. Now that my evaluation is over, I've no need for two of the three. I'd love to class change two of them to try new class combos but will not as I'm rather enjoying my current reduction in daily 'chores' of undaunted dailies and visiting the stables.

From what I understand, a class change token would be extremely messy on the back end.
