Solution for PvP Cyrodiil performance

Since we know that zos won't invest any money into servers or anything related to increase performance I have a simple solution that would passively fix overall server performance:

LIMIT GROUP SIZE IN CYRODIIL TO 12 PEOPLE.

This would prevent large group to stack up at the same place, or it would at least encourage more communication to do so.

So, um, what's from having 2 12 people groups from following each other around...?

people will just run 2 groups at the same time and still be in the same place.... no solution at all...

You know it's harder to coordinate two separate groups of 12 than one of 24 right? and thus they would be more likely to be split. Remember the PvP event where people said they didn't experience lag because of fight were scattered around the map. I think by this simple solution that at least is easy to realize we could expect some server improvement. Or keep dreaming and think that they finally after 4 years will invest in new servers...

Putting a limit of 12 to group size wont change anything.

Cyrodiil was designed for large scale combat. Changing group size makes no difference, as stated above. 4-5 groups of 12 could still end up fighting in the same spot. Players should not be punished because they want to run in large groups.

I'm afraid I disagree with this statement.

Cyrodiil does not work like a dungeon or trial, in which forming groups is required.

Cyrodiil population is dynamic. There are solo players, small-scale groups, large groups, and zergs composed of groups and/or solos and/or duos and/or triplets etc.

Cyrodill population is not like an organized military of various sized units moving about a game board. It most closely resembles the movement of large flocks of birds or schools of fish.

I applaud your effort to help.

The problem are less the 24man PUG zergs, but the organized 12-16 man ball groups and their AoE spamming. Limiting the max group size will do next to nothing to fix this. You can have large scale fights between 30 and 50 players of each faction with very little lag if those guys are using single target skills. But as soon as one of these ball groups joins the fray FPS plummet and lag gones through the roof.

The only way this fix this is to make AoE useless or unattractive in PvP. Obviously, not every single AoE can be made useless, but those spammed by these groups surely can - i.e. steel tornado, healing springs, etc.

Definitely the silver bullet we have all been waiting for! Thanks for bringing it up, everyone at ZOS will be pleased to know you have found the way to fix lag.

Exactly my point. What satisfaction do you think a 12 man organized group will get by killing 12 man pug group? 0. And that is exactly why PvP in Cyrodill will be more focussed around 4-6 man groups trying to take on the 12 man pug groups.

The problem is more deeply rooted than what that solution would address. I'm running around in Vvardenfell right now and the lag and desynchronization is almost as bad as Cyrodiil due to the amount of players in the zone for the event. There's not groups of 16 people running around Vvardenfell, it's just the total amount of players. Luckily ZOS recognizes this and is working to improve performance not just in Cyrodiil but for the game itself. Unfortunately this will take time and there initial solution may not even fix this issue completely, I'd expect it won't at least.

NoCP is even more laggy in prime time then CP cause ppl are stacking more there and also there are more raids with a lot of aoe skills.

    This would really help

Lower the population lock and actually enforce it, because right now you can join a campaign even when its locked without getting a queue. The servers clearly cant handle that many people so why the hell is ZOS being delusional about it.

I want a campaign that limits group size to 4 and no % proccsets or 2pc monster sets. Give skill back to cyrodiil, itemization is holding 80% of the power atm

What Papachico is trying to say is:
"I like to go deep into enemy territory with small scale group, take some resoruce and have fun killing small/medium waves of enemy pugs. When big group is comming (zergs) i need to start fun from beggining and thats why i want smaller group cap. I never do small scale with other small scallers becasue i respect small scallers."

I would like the change... after a 24 group zergs you down a lot of those people will claim "Cyrodill is designed for big groups.. why else would we be able to be in a group of 24. We are a group of 24 and we stay together like Zenimax intended"
