2-handed axe vs sword in PvP

So as I'm mostly doing battlegrounds these days I wonder whether there is any consensus on what is more effective, the bonus damage 2-handed swords bring, or the bleed from the 2-handed axe? I do notice that often there is substantial bleed damage in my log, so am wondering if upgrading my sword to legendary was a bit of a mistake and I should have gone for an axe instead?

✭✭If it makes you feel any better swords are getting buffed slightly next patch. But as @Nord_Raseri said I prefer nirnhoned maul on my PvP toons.2 -

✭✭✭✭The PvP meta is heavy armor, and considering the fact that it's been this way for well over a year, and ZOS isn't showing any signs of wanting to change that; I'd confidently use a Maul over any other weapon type.2
