Idea for subclasses in ESO

I play a magicka Templar but in my head I tend to think of her as a Spellsword. While it's possible to create something that functions like the classic classes of Elder Scrolls in this game currently, it still feels like a bootleg copy. I don't think this idea I'm going to put forth is a major overhaul of ESO's class system but an extention to it. I think it would be cool if we could have subclasses like Spellsword and Witch Hunter that would use the skill advisor to help us select skills that matched that subclass. Instead of just using the advisor to instruct us on skills to select for a damage dealer, healer, or tank role, it could advise us on how to build a subclass after we've selected our main class. This would work best if we had even more skill lines introduced that we could pick and choose skills from. But for instance, if we were to play a Templar Witch Hunter, the skill advisor would encourage us to pick certain skills from the Fighter's Guild skill line and on which type of armor to wear. For a Battle Mage, we would be advised to pick up skills from the Mage's Guild or Psijic Order. Obviously, these are the easy ones. But with more skill lines, there would be more options to choose from. Rather than getting more classes, I believe this would be a much better way to go.

I wonder if this is feasible. I would love for it to happen.

Its a cool idea, but the skill advisor is primarily set up to advise players towards the roles that are already in game: tank, healer, and DD, because this what is actually used to determine in-game content for dungeons and trials.

Subclasses like "spellsword" and "Battlemage" are either not effective under the current combat system or fit under multiple classes and roles.

For example, Spellsword is ineffective on any magicka class because swords are stamina based weapons. But the stam sorc build "Arcane Warrior" gave me a very solid "spell and dual wield" feel when I used it. Witch Hunter is in the same boat, typically combining weapons like bows with spells.

Similarly, "Battlemage" could apply to any magicka DD and most magicka tanks.

In short, we have a lot of freedom to role play various classes, like spellsword, battlemage or witch Hunter, but the Skills Advisor focuses on the actual classes and generic builds that are useful for roles we actually use in game.
