Chests and Psijik rifts are the best parts about exploring the open world and I stop for each and every of them. I love opening chests. Doesn't matter if the loot is trash, I just love playing that minigame.

Since I got the Merchant I pick everything up. Even white food/drinks. They're worth 9 gold a pop!

These last 4 days or so I made almost 150K from selling white drops, green drops, glyphs, poisons, trash pots, duplicate white/green recipes/plans, and the occasional blue/purple item because I couldn't bother keeping them for decon. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Yes, the gold alone helps pay for my "fast travels" to way shrines, when needed. That's the main reason I open them, the gold, however small, helps.

Also, as a side, lock picks in ESO are now so prevalent that using them is simply not an issue, even for new characters.
