I got a regular Apex Senche from a free Scalecaller crate... does that count? I never use the mount, prefer the other mounts
I bought directly from the crown store.

Crates just seem irritating to me. I'd rather buy exactly what I want and the fear of accidentally getting a camel mount (i hate
camels) is what keeps me from buying any crates.

Also check out how it was in the last crate out of those free 10 given out in August.

That was (and most definitely will be) the best RNG I experienced from Crown crates. Never bought a single one and don't intend to in the future.

Up until this most recent crate season, I could buy 2 large packs of crates and literally get every single thing I wanted either straight out of a crate or purchasing with gems, with lots of gems left over. This last season I bought 4 large packs and got hardly any of the things I wanted. I am less interested in spending my money on crates now that either my luck seems to have gotten worse, or drop rates were set on fire and thrown in the trash can.

I have bought very very few... em... one, and got extremely lucky with that one (that cake thingy which allowed me to buy all the stuff I wanted from that season, aka all crow/raven stuff). Yes i squealed and did a little happy dance prompting my husband to ask me if I was allright. I am not afraid to admit it. Still remained my only one even so. Which shows i am definitely not the target audience for these things.

Loved the free ones though (guess we won't be getting those anymore). So I could say I always got something I wanted from the crates I did open as I got something for free and in this case that's always better then nothing. Got some awesome stuff that way (I might have bought a crate for if it was guaranteed), and lots of meh stuff (i definitely would not have payed a single crate money for).

I am definitely not game store material, not just crates. I tend to find in store things (not just in this game) rarely worth the real money vs the joy I get out of it. I am far from a wanna have it all type of girl. If there are 10 awesome mounts and I own just one... i am happy... i'll just use that one. Well unless they go raven/crow-themed stuff. I need raven/crow-themed stuff (cough raven/crow pet cough)... up to a certain price ^^

Got Flame Atronach Senche and Sheogorath Costume from my free crates. Basically, everything I ever wanted. So I kinda enjoy my free crates, because I don't expect anything from them anymore. Of course, I don't buy them either, because I don't need anything from there.

I think I've ever only bought 1 crate cause I had the crowns to spend. I have like 86 crown gems from all the free ones though. What's funny is that there's absolutely nothing I want from the crown crates anymore cause like 99% of it I've gotten it in the free crates.
Been waiting for good cosmetics for over half a year.
I still don't recommend it because we need to get rid of this business practice.

You make fun, but it happens. I've gotten 2 Apexes from free crates, back when they still gave them as daily login rewards. Got the Psijic Senche Exemplar apex from a free crate in August and then the very next month, when I thought there was no way it could get better, got the Radiant Apex Adamant Dwarven Horse.


Also, concerning the biased OP's poll... To be truly defined as Gambling, there has to be a chance to win real money. So crates aren't gambling as you paid for random pixel stuffs with no real-world value and always get exactly that, random pixel stuffs with no real-world value. Those that don't like such things are under no obligation to buy them.

I'd say that to be defined as gambling, you'd need a chance to lose / win nothing. Considering you always get somehing, even if it's often crap, it can't be defined as gambling.

However...

Gambling :
noun
1 - the activity or practice of playing at a game of chance for money or other stakes.
2 - the act or practice of risking the loss of something important by taking a chance or acting recklessly

Money "or other stakes". So that works, if you can win zero or lose. But the second definition seem to work too. Opening crown crates is pretty reckless, after all :P

I usually get what I want from them. Though I do buy a lot so that might be why... I got a rare apex mount this crown crate season. I didn't buy as many as usual because I don't like the current selection.

Half the time I think I'm super unlucky the other half I think I'm crazy lucky. Either way I think I can agree that you shouldn't waste your money on crown crates - 9 times out of 10 you're gonna get **** all.

I sometimes get what I want, but I mostly only buy them when there is a large number of things I want. I never aim for specifics.

I have bought maybe 8 crates in total since they were introduced, if I pay, I want to know what I am paying for. It's disgusting way of sucking money from players. I'd prefer to pay 10k crowns for something I am sure to get than to pay 400 crowns and relying on "pure luck". It's in quotes because luck has nothing to do with.
