Starting Area

With the release of Elsweyr, will the tutorial/starting area change again? If so then I have a suggestion, you should make the tutorial/starting area optional between Coldharbour and whatever else. New players will be confused as to where the the main storyline fits in and players like myself who play for the lore and the storyline don't want to keep starting in new areas. With the addition of the Necromancer class I want to make a new character but I don't want to start in Elsweyr or anywhere else except for Coldharbour. Once again, it would be in everyone's best interest to make each starting area the player's choice.

I think you are right that new player would be confused but it would offer a greater chance at confusion if they were given a choice.

I am not suggesting hos Zos has been doing it is ideal, but they do offer direction back to cold harbor. I think this has more to do with marketing since Zos advertises the new chapter vs just the game. Someone buys the game seeing Elsweyr and they start there it is probably less confusing than if they started on Coldharbor and did not know how to get to what they saw advertised.

Probably not a great solution either way.

Please we need this now that we have third chapter coming up

It would be in ZOS's best interest too. For example those who came for ES III Morrowind can start there right away, which was kinda why we have new start quest in the first place, right?

I would not expect them to reply unless they have something to add other than what we can easily assume based on their past action. That is a new character will start in the new zone. We will find out on the PTS in less than 3 months.

PS, you can always ask them during the new ESO Live when they take questions. That is likely when Zos would answer a question like this.

Yesterday i strted new character and Bleakrock Isle was packed with new characters. Much more so than Summerset where i started (ported to Bleakrock Isle after prelude).

So i wonder if starting new players in new areas is the best approach.

The choice is mainly meant for veterans who don't want to start in Coldharbour(of course they could just skip the tutorial). However my own roleplaying is at stake because my character is supposed to start in Coldharbour not in Vvardenfell, Summerset, nor Elsweyr. Not only that but its lore breaking to say that the events of the chapters take place before the main storyline, they take place afterwards. This will definitely be problematic with the reintroduction of Abnur Tharn, an important character in the main storyline(which once again takes place before the events of these chapters).

Even as a non-new player, I was confused when created a new character after Morrowind chapter appeared... Go to mainland, meet Hodded Figure, go to Coldharbour, and only then you apper on your true starting island! Weird.
