So I just lost 6 years of forum badges because the ZOS's couldn't bother to change my name...

I still had my beta account name (obviously haven't played in years). I looked up how to get my name changed and sent them 4 choices of names to change it to. They sent me a new invitation link...it said if you have questions to reply...I replied...again they sent me a new invitation link. "Ok I thought, maybe this is how you change you name". Nope, I used the link and now I have a brand new 3 minute old account instead of the 6 year old one I made in beta.

If you aren't going to do what you say in the help section to change names for people ZOS's you should delete the lies from your help section.

I can only assume this happened to everyone who doesnt have a nice crappy auto-generated name like mine.

Right, but we all had auto-generated name accounts made at that point. Sucks if re-setting your name late means your account effectively gets deleted and remade.

No, I think they're just being lazy, the help section says to send them the names and they'll change it, they didn't do that. If they're just going to send you an invitation they don't need to ask for your 3 name choices. the text of the help article.

If you are unhappy with your username on The Elder Scrolls Online forums, you may request a name change from our Customer Support Team. In order to complete this change, you must provide three preferred forum account names.

Please keep the following in mind when selecting a new username:

Must contain 3 to 20 characters.
May contain alphanumeric [a-z, A-Z, 0-9] characters.
It cannot contain spaces or punctuation, but an underscore or dash is acceptable.

Please be aware that you may only have your forum username changed once.

I changed my beta name via the forum thread that lets you post in the thread your choices. This was sometime last year I think. Hopefully a mod can help you!

This is what happened to me. Had a forum account since day one, asked for a name change and the ZOS support chimps made up some random name that meant nothing. They then created an entirely new account (this one) for me. I left the game for 18 months, came back, and had a series of vaguely threatening emails from a forum gibbon saying it was 'an offence' for me to have two forum accounts, they had deleted the old account and if I 'did it again' they'd ban me from the forum!

I really wonder how ZOS employees dress themselves each morning, being as they clearly are single-celled amoebas.

A useful side effect of this thread is finding ass clowns to put on ignore...so I guess some good came of it.
