The way things currently work, if you buy "crates" and get a collection item that you did not have, it Automatically gets added to your collections. You don't have a choice in this.
I ran into this issue buying some crates so I could get enough gems to buy a particular mount. It's extremely irritating to receive things you do not want, and ONLY because its the first time you are receiving it, you are not allowed to exchange it for gems.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have all items download into your inventory, and then You can choose if you want to keep the items or turn them into gems to buy something you actually want?

✭Yeah. I cashed in some gold for some crates and I wound up with three mounts between some Stormcaller and Xanmeer... the boring, plain-jane horse and the guar in the Stormcaller and the Nix-whatever in Xanmeer. I will never use these. Would love it if I could have just had the gems.
Same with all the lipsticks and face paints and even a lot of the costumes. I pretty much just play one character and I will never... ever use a lot of that stuff. I'd rather the gems to get things I will actually use.PC NA

✭✭✭✭✭I got storm camel recently. Damn, I'd be happy to turn it even into one gem! Camels are terrible, I fell sick just watching how my character is sitting on running camel. I like horses and wolves, guars and senches are ok, maybe one day I'll find some place for bears, but I'll never, never, NEVER use any apex camels.PC EU, @Enemoriana. Ru.

??? Why would making sense be a priority? Get with the program. Making money is the priority.
But then, you appear to accept that the 1/3 gem valuation of your duplicated item is sensible also.

1/3 gems for me is fair.
I only wish to have the option to turn into gems everything i get in the loot boxes.1
