Templar Spear Shards suggestion: Give it a Root.

As I understand, shards used to have a stun and at some point it was removed. Fair enough. templars still have Toppling Charge and javelins for stuns.

I think adding a root to shards would restore some utility to this skill while providing some obvious benefits for pvp and templar tanks at the same time who currently don't have a root like DKs, Sorcs, and Wardens. I believe even NBs have a single target ranged root.

I don't personally think this would be OP because current this skill is lacking utility outside of it's resource restore, which is good support for dungeons and trials but does nothing directly for the templar casting it aside from being an AoE DoT and it's usefulness is highly diminished in fast paced pvp where everyone is running around all the time anyway.

To balance shards root it could have a cap on targets it can root in its AoE or alternatively provide a snare instead of root, similar to caltrops. Howerver, I think a root would round out the templars kit better though.

In addition perhaps it could be limited to the less damaging morph as to not make it OP if need be.

Thanks for reading :).

I kind of expected that reaction and I totally understand the sentiment that this game has a lot of cc already, but given that shards has to be aimed, has a delay from cast to impact and is highly telegraphed with its animation I don’t think it would break the game to add this one thing to shards.

    EDIT: typos 😜

Yes, 100% Shards should give an AOE root. (And sure, it's fine to put it on the low-damage morph.) Templar needs a decent CC.

Just give it the stun back as you have now promoted psijic crap enough so that templars don't need to get timestop anymore and be an annoying piece of ***

wow, we already got really annoying root from cleanse, rune, magicka puncture, sunfire, and this guy asking more, give this guy a clap

Yeah. I don’t think you really need another AOE CC. The snare from Sacred Ground passives is already ridiculous.

You do realize those are all snares.

I'm asking for a root similar but different enough to what DKs, Wardens, and sorcs already have. The idea of snare was just another option, not my primary suggestion.

If there's too much CC in game that's an overall game design problem. Not giving a class a tweak to one ability to put it on par with others isn't gonna change that. It's a pebble in the sand.

Also, of course feel free to disagree, that's what discussions are for, but your criticism will be taken more seriously if you present it with less cynicism.

Spear shards used to stun. Shouldn't have changed that.

No no no. No more snares, no more roots.

I'd rather it have a stun back, at least you get more than 2 seconds immunity from that.

You really want another stun in addition to javelins and toppling charge?

A root would provide much more utility and round out the templars kit more.

Shards are already really powerful. It’d be one of the last abilities needing a buff.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

No, weapon skills, light and heavy attacks are the only things that proc weapon enchants.
