So hopefully this means something similar can happen with ESO?

Rich briefly commented on performance improvements coming later this year during the livestream, so with ZOS bringing on more engineering resources this might be the year that we actually start seeing significant performance improvements.

I hope it does something especially with so many decent/same styled games coming out this year, ZOS can no longer be afforded the leisure they've enjoyed for over 4 years regarding performance issues.
I still believe the main issue with this game is primarily engine focused so seeing this bit of news is good but kinda late unless they can somehow bare fruit immediately which is highly unlikely.
2019 began under a very good star. The class rep system kicking off at last, some changes in the combat design department and now this. I want to believe that we can expect good things this year in all aspecs of the game.

As someone who measures how good things are by substantial new features and fixes, I feel this year is off to it's weakest year yet. This is measurably the most feature-light first quarter in years:
I truly hope the OP is right and that they have some serious improvements (performance or otherwise) on the horizon for Q3 & Q4, or else this is going to be ESO's weakest year content-wise yet. I say that because they've already announced all of Elsweyr's major features and when adding all Q2 features to the chart, the gap only widens. If any would like to take a deeper look, I added feature comparison charts for the second quarters to my signature, as well as a projection for the total year and just how much the last two quarters would need to bring to catch up.
And before the typical "But there's more Elsweyr stuff to be announced at E3" response comes back... No, no there's not. This year's E3 is June 11-13 while Elsweyr is first out May 20th for PC/Mac. Can't have more sneak peeks for something that's already out. The upcoming sneak peeks mentioned for E3 were obviously in reference to this year's last two quarters and whatever they might be bringing.
Its a bit low, note that we know noting of things added in the last two updates, transmute came with CWC and the outfit system with an dungeon dlc.2019 began under a very good star. That is true. I felt let down by their recent stream. No interesting features are being added.
So based on that, you are right to be skeptical, especially since they promised 2019 will be so special.
I personally care for combat and performance more than anything though. DLCs are nice for a moment, but after that it's always back to the front.

Don't realy know who major systems to add outside of spellcrafting who is off the table.
Could add another guild skill line or another weapon.
Simply having all against all pvp would be pretty chaoticIts a bit low, note that we know noting of things added in the last two updates, transmute came with CWC and the outfit system with an dungeon dlc.2019 began under a very good star. The possibilities for new major systems are only limited by their imaginations. And failing that, they would just need to page through the forums to get more ideas of what many beg for. Major systems commonly asked for include:
- Spellcrafting
- New Weapon Skill Lines
- Spear
- Fists/Unarmed
- 1 Handed and Rune
- Battle Royale PvP mode
- New Races
- Maormer
Being a modder for another game, I can think of several new original systems off the top of my head:Not saying these are great ideas, just trying to illustrate the directions the game could expand are infinite, but it should always be growing because stagnation in content isn't healthy for games.
- Farming extension for Player Housing, so players could grow crops and alchemical reagents in their homes.
- Mount/Pet Breeding for Player Housing. They wouldn't even need genders. Just have two mounts of a similar type nearby and they have a very small chance to drop a sellable/tradable runebox of a baby (pet) version of one of the parents. Keep the pet version out in a home and in X days it grows into an adult. [Note: Not all mounts/pets would be appropriate for this; just the more common ones. None of the really rare stuff]
- Battle Pets: A new crafting system. Divide the possible pets into different categories: Flyers, Small, Large, etc. Treat those categories like different weapon types were each has a different purpose (base damage and/or support function). Each category has different traits that could be researched; traits could do stuff like increase armor, % chance to distract, increase pet speed or damage, etc. The actual craftable items could be collars. No more than 1 battlepet per toon active and it takes up a slot on both bars.
For any who don't like a particular potential system, remember that like any existing big system (Housing, Outfitting, etc) you can always just ignore it. Necromancers don't do anything for me but I'm still happy for all the other players who have been requesting it for ages. (And doubly happy they're working them into the Justice System so it doesn't feel lore breaking, as they are despised so fiercely by most races and regions of Tamriel.)
Looking backwards, Necromancers, Jewelry Crafting, and Player Housing were all avidly asked for things since day 1 of this game and they've all been added. Spellcrafting is the last one of that level of request frequency I can think of.
