PvP Balance

I just resubbed and have no idea what is going on in PvP. It seems like I do no damage and get one shot all the time.

To compare it to other mmo's it seems like I'm level one and everyone else is max level.

Yes, thankfully skill still plays a part in eso PvP, although for how long that will last is up for debate based on the trend of the last year. So if you jump inafter a long break or as a noob you’re going to die, and your post has no info in it at all so we can’t help you.

If you list your race, gear (including traits), food used, mundus stone, skills, and maybe a picture of your CP distribution we can start to at least give you some build suggestions.

This seems to suggest more than skill.

It seem to be more of a champion point/gear issue.

Gear doesn't seem to be as big of problem as Champion points. I can get the gear within a week.

Champion points on the other hand, seems like a very painful grind unless there are ways to farm them quickly.

Bgs are also only no cp now. I only pvp in no cp, even though I am finally at cp 800. Just personally prefer building for no cp... tradeoffs seem to matter more there.

Grinding to the cp cap does kind of suck. It isn't terribly bad to get to a point with cp where the DRs are kicking in so much it doesnt make a huge deal *in pve*, but due to the relative importance of sustain and defense in pvp relative to pve, it feels to me like it made a much bigger difference in pvp than pve to be a couple hundred cp below cap.

I felt exactly the same when I started. I have always been a huge fan of pvp but I found it quite hard to learn at first, but it changed quickly once I got the hang of it.

The best thing I did was change from cp to no cp, being hundreds of cp behined others didn't help at all. After switching to no cp you know it's just gear and skill keeping you behined.

Watch builds and guides on your character and pvp and practice a lot. Don't worry about dying, it's how you learn and one of the best ways to learn is fight people who are good at it. I used to 1v1 all the time, I would lose so easily but I would watch how the best players fought and it really helped. I think 1v1 is especially good because if your fighting in a large group battle or outnumbered then there is a lot going on, but in a 1v1 it is easier to see what's happening to learn better.

Also I found it very helpful to play in a tankier setup. I tried going for damage at the start but dying in 1 second wasn't helping me learn. But in a high survivability setup with good sustain meant I could focus on the combat and eventually lower sustain and survivability as I got better. I started with 3k stam recovery and struggled to sustsain and in the end I could play fine with only 900 recovery, it just takes time :)

Gear and CP is part of it but it’s the only part we can help you with on the forums. So let’s start there. If you have very low CP then you may want to consider the no CP campaign for sure. Still even if you have all the right gear and max CP you will still get destroyed by a good player if you don’t know what you’re doing. So you can either let us try and help or you can continue getting one shot and making senseless forums posts. CP is largely more forgiving than no CP so don’t expect any miracles in Sotha or BGs.
