Now, don't get me wrong. I love mouse and keyboard for FPS.

But this is no FPS, and I'm put in the rather unique position of having hundreds of hours experience on Xbox. (Though due to the many changes to the game since I last played on console, I am very much a n00b to the current game, not to mention the year or so of no play at all)

So I was fiddling with my controls, and I noticed an option for "toggle gamepad".

My curiosity piqued like a Khajiit, and so I grabbed my Xbox One controller and plugged into the back of my PC.

To the good people at Zenimax: THANK YOU! Gamepad mode puts the console UI on PC, and I feel much more comfortable playing this particular game with my Xbox controller. I'm not missing attacks now, and in all I'm just doing better in the game.

Yup, us console players really appreciate that.
    Quick question.
Are you cp cap level, whats your dps using the controller?

ok so you are using the wired controller then, not the wireless one with the microsoft wireless adapeter that wirelessly lets you play the game with head.ear phones plugged into the wireless controller so you dont disturb your house mates or neighbors... and since you are using the wired controller i'm guessing you dont have cats?

buy the wireless adapter, two wireless controllers, and the wireless charging station so one is always charged and then theres no need to buy batteries; and then come talk to me... aahahahah

Oh, interesting! A lot of the menu style/skill layout for mouse/keyboard on PC seems like it's been designed as a port, so it's cool to hear that it works better with a different input method.

I've never been able to master the controller or reach all the buttons, so I'm out of luck.

I'd normally use a controller for games like this because early stage carpal tunnel flare up, but with all the keybinds I set up, I can't get away from kbm. I do use autorun toggle just to lower the pressure on my WASD hand and God bless mouse buttons :)

Been playing with gamepad since the gamepad mode was added. Only issues I have are in PVP, it's just impossible to turn as fast as you would with a mouse. The swift-meta was a real pain.

Love gamepad mode. Coming from Xbox makes it so much easier. I tried with mouse for a little bit but I'm just way quicker with gamepad.

Also, only for the PC mode, you can actually remap the buttons for gamepad mode (something that still is impossible on Consoles), you just need to switch back to KB/M mode for that.

I think quite a few of the addons are not compatible with gamepad mode, you need to verify that for yourself.

Been playing on PC with my PS4 controller for YEARS. You have MUCH finer character control with the gamepad....however, the one drawback is that the camera speed when turning quickly is slower that K&M, so you must learn to play around it, especially in PvP where it actually matters more.

I have yet to run into an add on not compatible with the gamepad mode. Using the gamepad doesnt disable the keybings on the keyboard after all.

I played pretty much from the very beginning with ps4 controller and xpadder. So used to my own settings & PC UI now that I cant even get used to the gamepad mode I begged zos for from day one lol.
I might have to sit down on a rainy day and give it another go.

I use the xbox elite controller and the wireless receiver. I use one of the paddles for weapon swap. Only downfall is the camera speed. But after a while you get use to it.

I'm by no means saying that gamepad is for everybody. I wouldn't dare be so presumptuous.

I mostly made this thread just to give my thanks to Zenimax for making things more comfortable for me, and that's solely a personal thing.

    So again Zenimax, many thanks!

Kotor 1 and 2 were the only pcgames I enjoyed playing K&M. I got a controller for gta 4 and stuck with it.

It’s a video game lol. I use a controller. You can hot key the toggle between gamepad and k&m for addons that aren’t gamepad compatible.

Not sure if you know this, but you can also program the controller as well. For example because of TES or Fallout games, I keep hitting the X key to put my weapon away so I programmed it like you would the regular key board and mouse, select what you and for my case, sheathe weapon and PRESS and HOLD X button. Now if I tap X it does what it normally does, and if I hold and press X I sheathe my weapon. I did the same for the B button. Hold and press B button goes to the inventor and what not settings.

Also the right small button to the Xbox Circle in the middle I press and hold it to auto walk.

So unlike the console, we can program the controller to what ever we want in most things. I hope this helps.
Not my quote but I love this saying

"I would pay It for support. But since they choosed we are just numbers and not customers, i dont mind if game and zos goes to oblivion"

I have used Xbox One controllers since day 1 on my PC. Honestly I hit top 45k solo and would probably hit higher if I could change trait on a few things. Relequen + War Machine and Relequen + AY on stamblade.

It also makes tanking and healing so much easier. No need to harsh aim heals just point camera and tap buttons

    This story just gets better!

The game will recognise 360 controllers! That means I've got my Razer Sabertooth hooked up, with its six additional mappable butons.

I don't have to take my thumb of the stick at all while casting!
