ok so you are using the wired controller then, not the wireless one with the microsoft wireless adapeter that wirelessly lets you play the game with head.ear phones plugged into the wireless controller so you dont disturb your house mates or neighbors... and since you are using the wired controller i'm guessing you dont have cats?
buy the wireless adapter, two wireless controllers, and the wireless charging station so one is always charged and then theres no need to buy batteries; and then come talk to me... aahahahah
Gamepad is for peasants.

I think quite a few of the addons are not compatible with gamepad mode, you need to verify that for yourself.

But this is no FPS, and I'm put in the rather unique position of having hundreds of hours experience on Xbox. (Though due to the many changes to the game since I last played on console, I am very much a n00b to the current game, not to mention the year or so of no play at all)
So I was fiddling with my controls, and I noticed an option for "toggle gamepad".
My curiosity piqued like a Khajiit, and so I grabbed my Xbox One controller and plugged into the back of my PC.
To the good people at Zenimax: THANK YOU! Gamepad mode puts the console UI on PC, and I feel much more comfortable playing this particular game with my Xbox controller. I'm not missing attacks now, and in all I'm just doing better in the game.

Not sure if you know this, but you can also program the controller as well. For example because of TES or Fallout games, I keep hitting the X key to put my weapon away so I programmed it like you would the regular key board and mouse, select what you and for my case, sheathe weapon and PRESS and HOLD X button. Now if I tap X it does what it normally does, and if I hold and press X I sheathe my weapon. I did the same for the B button. Hold and press B button goes to the inventor and what not settings.
Also the right small button to the Xbox Circle in the middle I press and hold it to auto walk.
So unlike the console, we can program the controller to what ever we want in most things. I hope this helps.
