Volatile armor and spikes

I have a DK that had spiked armor, which I morphed to volatile armor. But I do not see any spikes shoot from the ground when I use the volatile armor skill. Should I?

Also, it seems that maybe that skill is no longer increasing experience on the blue bar when I use it. Anyone have any ideas, or is the skill behaving as it should? I just pictured spikes shooting up from the ground, but it looks the same as spiked armor. Thanks

Tiny spikes fly outwards from your body when you cast it. That's how it looks, not spikes coming from the ground.

As for the skill not getting any exp, that's a visual bug. Reloading/relogging should show the correct amount on the bar.

Ok - the blue experience bar did not move, even if I log out and log in. Is there a numeric way to see if it is increasing, or is something else going on? Thanks again

You are aware you gain experience on it by gaining any exp while the skill is slotted on your current bar?

Progress after morphing is drastically diminished so you may just not see much difference even if you do gain exp.

I do have it slotted on my bar. I've been using the crap out of it looking to see it go up. Is that not the way i increase experience on it? Thanks

You gain experience for every skill you have slotted when you gain the exp that also increases your level/CP, so mostly by killing mobs or completing quests.

Just to clarify, you want it on the bar you are on while gaining exp. If you are grinding mobs I'd recommend having it on your front bar since you generally spend more time on your front bar. If you are leveling via questing just make sure your active bar while turning in the quest is the one that has the skill you want leveled on it.

After rereading your comment it seems you are under the assumption that using the skill is how gain exp for that skill just like in the single player games. That is not the case, you gain exp for skills just as you do for leveling your character level. Killing mobs and turning in quests will be the bulk of your exp gains.

Thanks. I will leave it on the hotbar and see what it looks like after I level up again.
