AFAIK its already ae restriced for Age 18, atleast in certain countries.

Pretty sure it’s always been an 18 (at least in the U.K. anyway) had the game for a few years, basically since it’s console release, hardcopy, disc case has the 18 rating on it...

But they have those in Fortnite too and that still manages to mantain a 12 rating here in the UK so it probably isn’t just that on it’s own.

I am a bit curious as to why in Central and South America the age rating is 14. Are they more mature than us?

If I remember correctly, they already have lower standarts towards underage laws, children protection in general.
So ESO managed to get a restriction for Age 14..

Maybe just check google, I assume games like CS also are only rated 14 maybe 16, wouldnt surprise me.

given that the game was rated M since its release... I don't think it has anything to do with loot crates and everything to do with mature themes. death, torture, etc.

The game used to be rated 16 in the UK (and presumably all the other countries that use the PEGI system), but when the Justice System was introduced and it became possible to kill innocents for absolutely no reason and with potentially no consequences it went up to 18.

That might help if/when other countries start bringing in legislation for loot crates, but it will depend on what exactly that legislation says. (And in the UK I imagine that will be a long time coming, if only because our government couldn't organise a party in a brewery right now, let alone actually get any legislation through.)

rating wont matter, just becuause you rate it 18 doesn't mean you can miss some of the rating tags off. If ita decided that companies need to tag "contains loot boxes" being 18+ wont save them.

Well here in the states its been rated M since launch but they were trying for a T rating which is why some of the base game feels bland and uninteresting. I'm glad the DLC zones have embraced the M rating a bit more for example in the Orsinium main quest when King Kurog just straight up impales one of his chiefs in his throne room right in front of you theres no blood but I don't think that would have been made if the game was rated T.
