After Elsweyr - No more updates to the Dominion?

The world is shrinking. The blank edges of the map filled in.
- Lord Cutler Beckett, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

The Dominion is the first of the alliances to get all of its territory into the game. While Highrock is also completely explored, the Covenant and Pact still have "blank spots" on their map we've never seen before in any other game. Will that mean that the Dominion won't get any zone updates anymore? I would like to think that Valenwood would get updated somehow to look more like a jungle and to dive deeper into the lore, but it sounds almost impossible considering that ZOS can't possibly justify charging money for a zone that had already been there before.

What are your thoughts on the matter? No more Dominion updates or is there a way to update old zones?

This chapter only has the northern half of Elsweyr. The southern half, with the cities of Corinthe, Torval and Senchal won't be included. Heres a screenshot from the stream showing where the borders of the zone are.
So the Dark Elves have weird alien architecture, where people live in mushroom towers and the shell of a giant crab, but the High Elves, the pinnacle of technology, the most magically advanced race in Tamriel, are still stuck in slightly pretty, fairly tall stone buildings? Not even a hint of a glass city? Are stainless glass windows really enough to claim that a city is made of glass?

Yeah, I was just wondering what will the next chapter after Elsweyr will be. The rest of Skyrim, the rest of Blackmarsh or some location beyond Tamriel? What new big features they'll add? Maybe spellcrafting or some magic/ability overhaul in Skyrim one (College of Winterhold).

I do think the dev's are not really focused on dishing out the same amount of content for each alliance anymore. Think it is about the races now. The kitty people didn't have much going for them + what makes them tick weren't really in the game yet. hence the new chapter.

So I do think moving forward we are going to see either a place we have been to before (middle part/big chunk of skyrim) or a daedric plane (spiral skein) maybe as its the only zone that was preview in 2014 still not in game, and makes sense for it to be a chapter so its on par with coldharbour in content.

    Viedo of that:

The 2020 Chapter will probably be Skyrim.
    • All Skyrim in a Chapter (Q2) and a Zone DLC (Q4).
    • Second Season of the Dragon.
    • Guild Skill Line => Bards College (in Solitude).
    • Spellcrafting (this one is more difficult to happen) => College of Winterhold.

Q4 Zone DLC will be as large as Murkmire, so a tiny area. Not all of south Elsweyr is going to be added with Quarter 4, leaving plenty of room for a possible South Elsweyr Chapter. Not that there should be one anytime soon. The Covenant hasn't had any Chapter yet, while the Dominion just received two in a row.

It'd be cool if they update old content and bring it more to life. An example with what im talking about is look at the detail in Valenwood now compared to the upcoming elsweyr. Because I do agree, although Valenwood looks decent, it could do with so many more trees and more of a jungle theme. I feel like once they complete most of the main zones, updating the older zone should be what they look into next.

I would love to visit Falinesti in a pocket realm of oblivion or wherever it might be. Legends say the Imga reside within the city.

I could imagine this being a future Q4 zone DLC akin to the Clockwork City. The city itself and the lorebooks scattered about would be the only things that truly add to the lore of Valenwood, while everything else would be related to the realm where the city currently resides.

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

@joaaocaampos @Kajuratus Their map is definitely a bit off if only northern Elsweyr will be the chapter. Vvardenfell and Summerset are way larger than that. Which makes you wonder what constitutes as a chapter compared to a DLC in terms of map size...
Hopefully that means we won't have huge mountains blocking most of the area this time.

@Chaos2088 Not to be a partypooper but I think we won't be getting a "Mephala's Realm DLC" anymore after Summerset.
We already went there for a quest and I don't think there is much more to be explored.
Obviously her realm should be huge, but I don't really see the opportunity for quests to be there. Unless of course ZOS allows us to fight the war among the daedra ourselves, which I don't think will happen in such a way that would justify a DLC. After all, we are not really fighting for any side but that of the mortals of Nirn. But I may be wrong of course.

well Rich said Q4 DLC will be a "Story DLC", he didn't say Zone DLC, unless he clarified that somewhere. whether or not that includes Southern Elsweyr as a zone remains to be seen. Guess we'll find out more at E3 like they said we would.

They said this year would all revolve around the Dragon storyline, not specifically Elsweyr. The Dragon storyline just takes place in it for the chapter.

I'd prefer if it were Elsweyr that were the focus for the whole year though, instead of Dragons.

Besides, the southern half is too big for a Murkmire sized DLC. It's still possible the DLC will be in the southern half, but it definitely won't be enough to finish the province by itself.

Yeah this is still going to be a Dominion territory we haven't been to. And really the only thing the Covenant has left is bits of Hammerfell and Adamantine Tower. The Pact is the emptiest of the three with all three races still having territory unexplored, and then there are chunks of Cyrodiil missing. Unless there's something along the lines of Blackreach under the Dominion/Covenant territories that we don't know about...

I would personally love to see more of Morrowind implemented into the game but the boundaries of the currently available regions are already so awkwardly drawn.... Example - the currently unexplored area of the Velothi Mountains near Blacklight is so thinly drawn that it hardly seems as if one could fit enough content for even a Q4 story DLC there.

Then there's the Telvanni peninsula, which is far larger than Summerset or even Vvardenfell. Would be interesting to see how the developers would attempt to create a story there centered around the Telvanni.

There's also that region between Cheydinhal and Stonefalls. I would be curious to see how the region would look aesthetically - a mix of Cyrodiil's and Morrowind's flora and fauna.

In any regard, after the Morrowind-themed DLCs from 2017, is there really an appetite to continue exploring the (albeit awesome) Dunmer?

@Darios_Heliodromos Yeah, I've always wanted to see the Telvanni Peninsula myself. A city called Necrom? There sure has to be some interesting history behind that name. I always imagined it as a very cliff-y sort of land on the east and beaches on the west.
I don't know what we could expect from the Redoran side of things. Blacklight is seemingly the only relevant city there and from what we know about it already, before the Red Year and the fall of Mournhold, it wasn't even all that important. Unless ZOS rewrites the lore to have it be important already of course (along the lines of Seyda Neen).
The land between Stonefalls and Cyrodiil is mostly a mountain range called the Valus mountains, but down in the Nibenay Basin (the part that's not in our pvp zone) and Blackwood things should be getting interesting as they also border Shadowfen.
    OB-map-All_Regions.jpg
The only other parts Cyrodiil is still missing is the (west) West Weald, Blackwood, the Nibenay Valley (although Bravil is technically already there) and part of the Colovian Highlands. Nothing you could make a chapter out of, but enough for a DLC. Who knows, maybe Q4 will take us to one of them. Abnur Tharn supposedly rules the Nibenay Valley after all.

Back to the Dominion, in Valenwood I often feel underwhelmed by the forest. It should be a roofed forest for the most part of Grahtwood, but instead I can see the sky just fine. The amount of nothingness between trees is also puzzling to me. It looks more like the redwoods in California minus the shrubbery to me (as someone who has never been there) than an actual jungle, which it is supposed to be... right?
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Tharn is one of the protagonists (antagonist?) of this Chapter so I think it's a safe bet that ...

... a) we will see the Southern part of Elsweyr (not in it's full size though)

... b) we will head towards Cyrodiil (maybe in the East of Elsweyr)

... c) the dragons will mess up and we end up somewhere else

    .. d) we're going to a Daedric realm

At the moment I think b) is the most likely as Tharn wands to end the Three Banner War and we haven't heard anything about that yet.

DC - Orsinium (back then it was a DLC but still a chapter - size DLC - before they came up with the term "Chapter")
    EP - Morrowind
    AD - Summerset
    AD - Elsweyr

    You forgot
DC got also Hew Bane, and initially Craglorn.
    EP got Murkmire

Now regarding Skyrim, is all down to licences with Bethesda. So imho the remaining of Hammerfell going to be added in 2020

Given the chunks of land we get, we are looking for another 9 years worth of expansion!!!!

How about adding dragons to Cyrodil, always fun with some non discriminating air support.
Have it drop good loot then killed.
Trial level boss, however an 24 man zerg could kill it unless horrible.
An small organized group can just sneak, or they could try to pull it onto an zerg
Bomb zerg then dragon fall :)
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

As long as it's not another AD zone, I'm fine. It was enough with Summerset, and I'm not looking forward to Elsweyr.

Im not even sure Northern Elsweyr is apart of the Dominion. It doesnt matter though because storyline wise adding zones isnt the only way to provide future content for those alliances. Once they have the map fleshed out, or even before theyve gotten to that point. They could always add a DLC to the game that gives our heroes reason to return to our old haunts. Another reason to visit Reapers March or Wayrest. Nothing is stopping them from overlaying new content in areas that we have already explored.

There is one update to the dominion I would like to see.the Return of Falinesti. According to the lore its a walking tree city. I suspect this is the reason why they made it disappear or vanish instead of adding it into the game. To program a walking city might have been something they were not able to do. Or maybe didn't have the resources to do it or were restrained by time to release the game. I would like to see this city, even if its in some daedric realm and maybe have it return to the bosmer homelands. Even if they have to rework the questline in the valenwood ad zones. They could design the city to move maybe a few feet per day making it some kind of npc. I'm not sure how performance would be effected. I get the impression if it was not for the cities unique lore feature it just might have been added with the base game. But yeah its one part of valenwood that is missing. The city is populated mainly by Bosmer, Orcs and Igma.
