Hi all, so I bought ESO on Steam back at the initial PC release in 2014, but for some reason, the game won't update at the launcher for me. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it 3 or 4 times now, but to no avail. My question is that since I have a PC/Mac account, can I just buy the game again through Bethesda Net or through the ESO website to run the game independently of steam to see if that allows me to update? If so, will my characters and progress and expansions that I have purchased still be available, or is that something that I will only have access to while playing through Steam?
If my proposed solution is not possible, does anyone have any idea about what may be wrong with my situation? My PC is relatively new, I got a new motherboard and processor (AMD Ryzen 1500) last year, 8gb RAM, GTX 1070, and plenty of HDD storage space. Windows 10 64bit, and every other game I have runs fine. ESO just doesn't want to load for some reason. And since the launcher won't load and crashes upon opening, I can't get the system file information to submit to tech support, so it really feels like I'm out of possible solutions here. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks all!
