DirectX 12 Update?

Hello,
I just want to ask what is the "Future Plan" in relation to the DX12 Update that was promised in December 2015?

Its 3 Years now and still working with DX11 what cause alot of Performance problems, like low CPU and GPU Usage. Win 10 isnt new anymore and there was enough Time in 3 Years for Improvements.
Dont get me wrong, I love playing ESO but its such a Performance Mess.. espacially in Cyrodil and Trials like CR, MOL, HOF and more.

I just want to know what is the actual Status of the Implementation of DX12?

DX11 is not causing the performance problems of ESO.
The main advantage of DX12 is that it does not suffer from draw call limitations of DX11. Draw calls are GFX related and ESO in no way saturates your CPU/GPU enough with draw calls for there to be any meaningful performance gain converting to DX12.

In fact... for most games, DX12 is utterly pointless and would actually reduce performance by the simple fact that it isn't as easy to build around(aka less bang/buck budget wise). To fully utilize DX12 you have to entirely build around it. This is why the adoption for DX12 is actually very low. It is a pointless, high cost, and low reward API that REQUIRES a certain OS to even exist.

Vulkan would be a far better thing to be asking for as it would also open the door for things like Linux.

If ZOS decides to put in the effort I think a good portion of the decision will be based on the Windows level of the player base. I suspect there is still a good number that are not on Windows 10 and if I were forced to decide windows 10 or quit playing the game I would quit the game. If they were to look at Vulkan that would be a different story as it runs across many operating systems.

Win 10 works fine for me (after I fixed it so it's not phoning home all the time... and since I don't update anything but the security releases.... MS can suck.... whatever....)

The ONLY reason I'm not going to linux right now is my games. I have a good friend who tried to run ESO on wine.... didn't work.... so now he has a VM. I'm so not messing with that at this point.

Game companies need to get with the program. Native linux options.... After using windows since 1985, I'm SO DONE with MS and windows. But.... games are my hobby. And they need to work seamlessly before I move to linux.

Oh. And then there's the issue of finding a linux distro with a UI that LOOKS like what I've been used to since 1985.... Um.... yeah. My desktop today looks just like my desktop in 1985. I.... approve.... of continuity. Not to mention that as I get older, if something's not where I expect to find it.... I get.... upset. Mild way to put it....

Except eso's performance issues have nothing to do with dx11 limitations.

I don't know who spreads all these lies around but dx12 won't fix the server side lag.

Besides, dx 12 is kinda meh from what I've seen in dx12 titles and didn't improve performance as much as vulkan did.

There are some traces of Vulkan in the game's executable (and have been for over a year I think), but ZOS absolutely refuses to comment on anything regarding the game's engine.

Vulkan brings the same improvements as DX12 while also being cross-platform. So in order to have better performance and less work while also supporting Mac, they should focus on Vulkan.

Its just horrible to Play for me. In Trialfights-> Cpu almost not used with 50-60% Usage, same with my Graphicscard and 16gb Physical Memory +SSD. Temps all fine

100+ fps almost everywhere but in a Trialfight 30-40 with huge latency, stutters, fpslags. I have strong and stable Internet.

But as this is not enough, I need to restart my Game, sometimes even my PC to ger rid of (whatever that is) FPSloss over Time, Memoryleak, Cacheoverload idk wtf lol!

NOTHING Ive tried does help. Super Low Settings give almost the same Bad Performance as Ultra except things like Viewdistance and Shadows, theyre on OFF since Ive started playing ESO.

I can play Games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Farcry 5 and other actual AAA Titles on Ultra 1080p with stable 60-70+ fps without problems over hours.

No one in this thread is saying the game does not have a performance issue. Just that upgrading to DX12 is not going to fix it.

It is highly inadvisable to use an FPS game as a metric for performance vs visuals. FPS centric games have the absolute lowest overhead compared to any other game format. Additionally, a SINGLE PLAYER FPS will always win because you have no latency to deal with.

For a trial fight remember you have 12 people transferring data to a server along with a host of add-ons you willingly applied to your system that also consume resources. I'm not saying ESO is a golden goose performance wise but there is a metric ton of calculations and data transfers going on under the hood. One of the most common "criticisms" of an MMO is "Why is it lagging". It's a nature of the beast. ESO could improve but don't expect single player FPS elebenty billion frames per second performance.

Atleast I dont want decreasing FPS over Time after some Wipes at Bosses when the System is capable to give good FPS at beginning of a Trial and its Fights.

Thats not what I call a common MMORPG problem in relation to the Users System and its Real since Years.

May I suggest using Steam Play/Proton.
