The changes to the Redguard racial passives are getting a backlash for buffing the 'BiS Stam' race.
While not disputing the dominance of the redguard in terms of Stam sustain, I wanted to introduce to the discussion a point that seems to be being missed. It is not that Redguards are simply the best of a good range when it comes to stam sustain, it is that they are at present, and it looks like still will be, the only race that is at all viable for sustain in competitive end-game PVE. The previous nerfs to sustain across the board resulted in one race still able to compete. The solution to that is not to whinge and call for the nerf hammer to be applied to Redguards, but to call for a buff in terms of sustain to the other classes. At the moment we have a meta built around the ability to sustain, the buff to light attacks only made that worse by discouraging heavy attacks at the same time as making them necessary. It is a hurdle type requirement, the classes and races that can sustain and still deal the required damage become the default requirement
I main a Redguard stam sorc, he started as an Orc, for PvP purposes, then rerolled as a Khajit, for the crit damage. In their respective times, I could sustain a rotation on either the orc or the khajit while still dealing competitive damage. Not the min-maxed 1% type damage, I am also fighting an Australian ping (RIP), but enough to hold my own in trials. Since the sustain nerfs, I have had to change him to a redguard out of necessity. I preferred my Orc, and will test if the sustain has magically become viable to run as an Orc again, but again, I wanted to stress that the issue is not the magical dominance of Redguards, but rather the issues with making the other races viable at all. We need a racial buff to sustain across the board, because only from a more viable playing field can choices between a bit easier sustain v a bit more damage become meaningful. As long as we have a situation where the choice is between enough sustain to compete and more damage but no viable way of sustaining a 6mil parse without crippling that damage, the ability to sustain while running a LA rotation in PvE will always win. The base conditions need to be viable before decisions like more sustain v more damage become relevant.
On the other point, I like the idea of hybrids, and for a few patches now, ZOS seems to be trying to push them. I would like to suggest that we decouple max stats from damage entirely, because as long as a higher resource pool directly equals the ability to hit harder rather than the ability to hit more times, hybrids will never be able to hit as hard as someone who stacks all points into one stat. If Zos is serious about hybrids being viable, this seems a fairly easy fix that shouldn't have too much of an impact on those who don't want to run a hybrid. A higher resource pool would still allow a more sustained attack of one type, so there would still be benefit, but it would also allow a lower resource pool to be able to deal equivalent damage just for a more limited time before they had to switch resource.
