ZOS, Q3 DLC Dungeon Pack brings a problem to Pledges!

As you know, we will have 2 DLC Dungeon Packs this year.

But there is a problem... and the problem is called Urgalarg Chief-bane! Let me explain:

Today, Maj al-Ragath and Glirion the Redbeard are responsible for 12 daily quests/dungeons each. So far so good. But meanwhile, before Wrathstone DLC, Urgalarg Chief-bane is responsible for 10 daily quests/DLC dungeons. After Wrathstone DLC, Urgalarg Chief-bane will also be responsible for 12 daily quests/dungeons!

Did you catch the problem? No? Urgalarg Chief-bane can't be responsible for 14 DLC dungeons (in Q3), while Maj al-Ragath and Glirion the Redbeard account for 12 daily quests each!

I have two solutions to this problem.
  1. RNG system remains.
  2. RNG is completely removed.

Solution 1: RNG system remains

Old DLC dungeons moving to Base Game, available for all ESO players! At the moment, I'm talking about Imperial City and Shadows of the Hist. But in the future other DLC dungeons would also become free!

With this change, these 4 dungeons would be transferred to Maj al-Ragath and Glirion the Redbeard, totaling 14 dungeons each!
  • Maj al-Ragath: Imperial City Prison and White-Gold Tower.
  • Glirion the Redbeard: Cradle of Shadows and Ruins of Mazzatun.
While Urgalarg Chief-bane would be responsible for only 8 DLC dungeons, including the two dungeons of Wrathstone DLC. 8/14 means 3 DLC dungeon packs, to total 14/14!

Imperial City will be disengaged from Cyrodiil and have its own campaign. Maybe Imperial City will become available for all ESO players! And this Pledges problem will only come in Q3, around the same time as the release of Shadows of the Hist! Do you believe that?

Solution 2: RNG is completely removed

There is a rework in the system.
  • "Undaunted Keys" is now a new currency.
  • Undaunted Chests are removed.
  • Monster Shoulders can now be purchased by Undaunted NPCs. You are free to choose and buy!
  • Monster Shoulders can cost from 6 to 10 "Undaunted Coins".
  • You get the amount of Undaunted Coin in the same way as Undaunted Keys.

    I don't see why this is any kind of problem. His count doesn't match theirs now, so why is this "imbalance" ever an issue?

    So by your logic it is OKAY for Urgalarg to be 2 Quests behind but not 2 quests ahead?

    The only problem I see is the dlc chest for shoulder is getting bigger poll every year and eventually we need new chest

    They just need to revamp the system completely. Opening hundreds of these chests in a row (and still not getting the item I want) is one of the most soul-sucking experiences I've had in a video game ever.

    I dont see the problem.

    The only real problem is how much more of a pain in the ass it's becoming to get the right shoulders from each chest. We could really do with adding a 4th even if its not named after an NPC that gives pledges. 1/36 is already way too dumb. Ive used over 60 keys and still never gotten a light armor copy of Iceheart. 3 Medium versions, 1 Heavy, like 15 Nerineths, no Light Iceheart.

    I would much rather see the Undaunted guild enlist additional quest givers with their corresponding chests.
    1. It would be interesting to see the guild actually grow dynamically as the game grows.
    2. It would reduce the ever-growing RNG of getting the desired drops.
    3. It would solve the quest distribution issue
    4. It would incentivize people to running even more content (4+ dailies you can choose)
    5. It would allow those trying to get their Undaunted up more opportunities to get experience

    You don't see the problem, but you exposed the problem!

    BTW, as @ccmedaddy said, they need to revamp the system completely. In fact, they just need to completely remove the RNG, removing the Chests and turning the Undaunted Keys into a new currency in which you purchase the shoulders that you want.

    Add (better sooner) a 4th NPC and Chest and regroup the existing dungeons to split over 4 NPC/Chests.

    With Wrathstone it could look like 10/10/10/6, Q3 2019 10/10/10/8, Q1 2020 then 10 and with Q3 2020 12/10/10/10, and stocking up until all hold 12 again, that would be a longer term solution for years, eases a bit the rng problem AND offers more choice on the daily pledges as 4 per day are available so you dont see some dungeons only every 14 or less days.

    The only problem I see with dlc dungeons is that most of the pugs have absolutely no idea on the mechanics....that does cause me a problem.

    I think a far better solution to Shoulder RNG would be to allow us to trade in X amount of keys for a pick of what piece you want. They could even make that piece intentionally Invigorating with no enchantment and White quality so that you are forced to transmute and upgrade it. But it would solve the problem, still allow you to roll the dice for a decent traited shoulder, but provide the option to actually get the shoulder pieces you need. I still have not received a Balorgh shoulder piece and it is pretty ridiculous that one of the harder to get Monster Helms is easier to get than the actual shoulder piece.

    They have mentioned they are looking into a sort of token system for the Undaunted chests. Assuming they do work that in somehow, the only issue is "avoiding" dungeons you dont want to run.

    We don't even know if this will be a problem. For all we know, ZOS could FINALLY release part 2 of all the base game dungeons and give them to the Maj and Glirion as a part of their standard pledge rotations.
