Why do maintenances take so long?

It's slow, there is no going around that. WoW had this long maintenance back in 2005 - 2010. There is no excuse for an MMO company in 2018/2019 to have maintenance this long and during this time.

Then what time do you suggest? I'm sure any time that it is done will be a pain in the arse for some players around the globe...

The best part of 5 to 6 hours of the servers being offline is that we'll have the next 7 days of lag-free playing in front of us....
