Completely Confused about Mayhem

I guess I'm supposed to go to Cyrodiil. I guess I do that through the Alliance Wars panel.

I'm not even sure which campaign to join. Evidently, I went to Cyrodiil years ago because it says I'm part of the Ebonheart Alliance. Ebonheart Pack Volunteer Grade 2 to be specific.

How can I tell which is my HOME campaign?

The first panel is 30 Day, Vivec. Most of my guild members are here. But, it says FULL.

Surely, ESO didn't set up Midyear Mayhem to go to a place that is full.

So do I go to a different panel? Like for 7 days? But do I get a penalty if I change campaigns?

Hope you can help.

Thanks.

P.S. When I highlight Vivic it says this is a CHANGE.

Hit L there will be a house icon next your home, a person icon next to your guest.

You can right click any of the campaigns in the list to reassign your guest. Right click and select enter campaign..

When you get into pvp look for a group of npc around a mayhem banner (red with gold sword). Talk to thelady, getthe scroll and read it.

There are quest boards at the start, take them all and the first one gives u 2 tickets.

Ebonheart pact is the alliance you chose when you made the character. Color is red icon is dragon
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

I found this link, but I'm still confused as to whether I should join any open campaign.

    http://esoacademy.com/eso-pvp-and-cyrodiil-guide/

Am I to join as a Guest?

Will I incur a penalty if I accidentally join the wrong campaign or join the 7-day campaign?

You can set a home and a guest campaign, indicated in the top corner with a house and person icon respectively.

If you have none, you can set one now. If you change it, your first one should be free. Afterwards there may be a cool down and a cost in AP. Or you can set it for free when the campaign ends, but you may not have the time to wait.

Sotha Sill is a 30 day campaign, with CP disabled.

Vivec is a regular 30 day campaign and the most populated.

Shor is a standard 7 day campaign.

Kyne is a sub level 50 campaign.

Depending on platform, most of the remaining 7 day campaigns are added just for the event.

There is a max population for each alliance in each campaign. The lock icons appear when it hits over 90% full. You can try to join, and if it is full you will be given a number in the queue. That number decreases as people leave the campaign.

It is a bit of a zoo,

but Cyrodiil is worthwhile for the gameplay experience and for the rewards which are available, as an example each Alliance rank you earn will net you a skill point, that alone warrants spending some time there.

Playing Alliance War in Cyrodiil is one of the fastest ways to earn Alliance points, even more with double AP, thus everyone should spend some time there

You can join any of them to do the event.

Only your home campaign will provide you with end of campaign awards though (50 transmute crystals, gold and gear). But, any campaign will give you rewards for the worthy rewards (mail you get at every 20k or 25k I think).

The locked one just means it's full. You can join, but will be in a queue. Just run around and farm nodes or whatever until you get a notification to join.
