Greetings everyone. So last year you may or may not remember I posted something about a ground based aoe and I usually notice them at bleakers pvp in Cyrodiil. More than likely due to CqC. Umm, Close quarter combat, there's not like a whole lot of area to fight as it's pretty compact and confined there.

However that said, we never did find out what kind of ground based AOE was being used at bleakers that when seen, it covered the entire width and length of the entire keep. I was certain either it was a glitch or someone was cheating expanding the size of the area's of effect, as being only one was casted.

So today I revised with a similar question asking what skill and or if,,,,, what set (armor set) can cause a large aoe circle on the ground that is really, really large. Now , I have a heal warden, and my class skill heals and a resto staff heal like springs, does not make a circle on the ground this large.

This is vivec campaign, Cyrodiil, PC = N/A server. The circle, encompasses the entire full reach of bleakers forward porch. Now anyone who's anyone that pvp there, know that bleaks forward is fairly large, and we all know that regardless of what alliance you play as , as bleaks turns blue, red and yellow all the time.

So gauging from this snapshot, could you give me an idea of what I'm looking at and or what this is. Is it a damage circle, a healing circle, I say heal only because I noticed there is another player off to the left and is glowing as if he got hit buffed by some sort of mutagen heals, so at first I was, operative word, "was" thinking it was heal based, however that said, the circles didn't appear until after an enemy player targetted me with a arrow snipe and poison injection which didn't last long and did zero damage (probably due to hardened ward being used at the time) and then there ya go, these circles got cast on the ground.

Now also, I'm standing right inside it, and the only buff/debuff icon I see that I don't recognize is the 5th from the left. Starting from left to right, an armored knight. Just left side of my 17 minute left food buff.

Thank you.

Most likely its the Altar, the Area is Red because in this Area, you (the enemy), will be debuffed with minor Lifesteal, thats probably also the Icon you reffered to.

Altar has a Radius of 28m, which is the biggest Area of any skills, thats why it is so large.

That the circle appeared after you got hit by snipe is probably just a coinidence ;)

If you would look down to the MG, you may would be able to the the Altarstanding down there.

The skill blood altar does an even bigger circle, so its not that. Blood altar would make more than whole bleakers glowing red tanks to its huge diameter.
Based on what else is on that picture, I guess it is the extended ritual of a templar. Extended ritual is probably the second largest aoe ability and the size fits it. Additionally there are two of them, meaning there are two templars down there trying to enter bleakers. Also the friend in the background is "debuffed" with the skill puryfying light, another templar skill.

About the debuff icon, I have to guess, that it has nothing to do with the aoe. It is listed as a permanent buff/debuff and does not have a duration.

Hmmm, thanks guys/gals. That is odd though. If someone was casting blood alter downstairs, how in the name of the great Lord Dagon did it's effect end up touching the second floor?

    https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Blood+Altar

Or , I'm just wondering if it's not only a circumference effect but also a cylinder effect as well. And if that's the case, the light from the cylinder is jetting up to the second floor however may or may not be affecting people (the enemy) so high up.

Sounds like something to be tested for fun. Thanks for shooting over the ideas.

Well, I see now that the information was correct, it was the alter. I snapped another shot:

That covers an insane amount of area. I didn't think zos would let us have something that huge.

well, it's actually very effective scare tactic.
people subconsciously allways "get out of red" due to normal knee jerk reactions, it works to keep people on the defence and can help trick people.

If you know the game a bit, you will not be scared at all, since you would know that such huge enemy aoes are harmless.

To establish a connection, red = bad,

then put a bunch of healing abilities and auras in the game that are also red,

    was a mistake.
