Reduced Lightning Staff drops?

Did Zos reduce the drop chance of lightning staffs recently? I've been farming for about 4 different lightning staves recently, and not one of us has gotten a single drop (unless someone is keeping it and not telling me, more power to them). Siroria, Olorime, BSW, Sanctuary...none of them have been dropping for months now. Is it just me? Did I *** off the rngeezus?

It's just RNG. I've been farming for BSW inferno staff for months (on mDK) & have gotten umpteen lightning staffs & resto staffs but no infernos :( !@#@!

Rng is rng. Your comment is purely anecdotal, as opposed to random being factually R from RNG.

There's something about this subject is psychology. You tend to see the bad a lot more than the good. You'll notice all the weapons you don't need coming on drops until you get the one you need, and it'll feel like your chances are bad. Then, in an opposite situation, if you wanted another drop, you would think lighting staff as trash and not ever notice that was the weapon you once looked for and claimed never came. But your second-search weapon WAS part of the trash from when you ran for your staff, you just didn't notice and dismissed as trash.

It's quite annoying how we are flawed as humnas to only see things in our biased pessimistic ways, but I promise you, the odds are the same. You just feel like they aren't.

Also, Murphy's law isn't a joke, is just an allegorical representation of this perceived loss mixed in frustration for "it always happens to me".

You're not alone, you're not unique, and you're not looking for the hardest weapon to get. Keep farming.

So in short, you have no proof that the gear drop is *not* weighted ...

If you spend some time looking around the game you will realize that ZOS does *not* use pure RNG anywhere, it's always weighted in one way or another.

What exactly makes you think that isn't also the case for gear drops?

Truth be said, I dont know the odds for items in particular and they do weigh them all based on something and you have a point there, but I do know they let us know when odds change and they haven't, at this time.

Having 5 years experience is still anecdotal "proof", mind you. You could have 5 million years experience and if it's just you, it's still anecdotal. Keep that in mind.

And thanks for keeping this convo relatively civilized. And I don't have a psychology textbook, I just read a lot.

Zos know when sets are going to be bis every update so drop rates are reduced for that set as to keep people grinding, only the very very lucky few get the bis from "rng" remember when bsw flame destro was bis across the board for mag toons, think I saw 1 in the following months, once the dust settled and things shifted....... I deconned 2 last week,

Tip here is to create a few banking alts, max out there inventory and farm "off meta sets" which have the potential to be something great and store them for a later date when Zoe decide it's their turn in the limelight

It's all RNG. I didn't even want BSW and while doing COA1 somebody got a inferno infused. I told them I didn't want it but they kept insisting I take it, so I did. I farmed two sanctuary staffs during the witches festival. So it's just RNG.
