Where to farm furnishing plans?

Apart from getting a place to put my test dummy, transmute station, and my banker and merchant I've never really messed with crafting furniture or decorating.

My daughter turned 5 on christmas day, and she has always had a love for snowglobes and anything christmas related. My wife got me a gift card for xbox and I used it to buy crowns and with those crowns I used it to buy the enchanted snow globe home for her. She thinks it's the coolest thing ever.

I have started looking for furnishing plans, but haven't found many. Where is the best place to farm for plans? Also is there certain zones I need to farm for certain styles? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The more common furnishing plans can be found in containers just about everywhere. Sometimes in delves and dungeons. I have better luck finding them when I steal from homes and merchants in towns. Many can also be purchased (some quite cheaply) in Guild traders.

Also, there are very basic plans available at each woodworker, blacksmith, and clothier. They are pretty inexpensive. You could grab those while doing daily writs.

Pretty much. Most of mine were from stealing in homes (wardrobes, desks) and urns/pots in overland, dungeons, ruins.

I'm sorry to tell you, but nobody who is mentally sane will tell you about his or her favourite spot to farm blueprints.

The reason is, that every time the community gets excited over a place, Zeni nerfs it into the ground. Either the containers will be removed, or the chances to find the containers empty will be increased, or the access to the respective location will be turned into quest-related-one-time-only.

Unfortunately, this is true. People boasting about their spots of good fortune has only led to said spots being restricted.... in the interest of not cutting into furniture pack sales.

However, the easiest way to learn some basic furniture recipes would be to search the guild traders, and sort by price, lowest first. Many recipes can be found for under 100 gold. Also, joining a housing oriented guild is a good idea, many veteran furniture crafters will have a lot of extra plans to share with you.

I'm not asking about specific holes, I was just wondering if certain zones drop certain items like the style motifs used to drop in certain level zones. Pre one tamriel you could only find the ancient elf motif in the vet 9- vet 14 zones etc.

I don't want a "go to this house and blah blah" but more if I get in the mood to pull a Bob Ross and put a big ole happy tree in my back yard, what zone would I have to go in to find the plan to make the said tree?

I guess I should have been more specific is it something I have to search drawers and dressers for or do I need to search crates etc? Not a specific place but more toward what do i need to search to find them so I'm not wasting time?

Best spots for farming furnishing plans that I've found:

    1. Bahraha's Gloom delve in Hew's Bane
    2. Scarp Keep in the city of Orsinium, Wrothgar

Well, I get more high elf drops in Auridon, and Breton drops in Daggerfall so I assume the styles are relatively easier in their respective zone. I think a lot of people were farming Summerset hoping for alinor plans which sell well...Failing that, I found my highest level crafter gets blue/purple
plans more often than my daily writ mule.

But seriously, ask your guilds for spares, and get ready to shop.

In Summerset and Vivec you should NPCs give a try. Pickpocket them or kill them, they should have nice stuff from time to time.

I have found that blueprints and so are quite likely to drop from specific containers, let's say furniture and furniture chests in dungeons, delves and so. Which means that I mainly open furnitures and furniture chests, next to real treasure chests and heavy sacks. I barely look into barrels and wooden crates, unless I want to farm ingredients and lockpicks.

Take note that blueprints are quite likely to drop to you if you open furniture and other containers that are free to loot. If a container is owned, meaning you would steal from it, the chances drop. You would probably get a fenceable treasure instead.

Depends on the kind of furnishings you want to farm, honestly most basic ones are so cheap now that it is better to farm some gold and buy them instead.

More rare Purple basic styles (nords, khajiits etc.) are best taken from various containers in the game, best chance is some kind of noble house like castle wardrobes, drawers etc.

Thrones are purely stolen from Nobility in case of Breton/Bosmer thrones, never got them any other way (well beside buying but maaaaan it was pricy).

Some furnishing plans/items can be stolen from specific NPC's like skooma bubble from Khajiit thieves/drunkards.

DLC furnishings well same as basic ones but only in DLC zone, one exception is morrowind great houses, you can get random furnishing blueprints for 20 and 50 vouchers (you get them by doing master writs - to craft specific item/set/trait/quality) but after a bit of time you will have so many repeats it was cheaper to buy the rest of the blueprints for the gold u get from selling master writ and the mats needed to do it anyways.

if you wanna check what kind of furnishings exist:

History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.
