Trying to resolve a crashing problem

Hi there-
So I picked up a used laptop for my kiddo, after painstakingly researching system specs. It has a fresh install of Windows7, and I believe I have correctly updated the drivers. What sort of system info would be helpful from me to help get to the bottom of the issue?
We have created an account for him, and he can login and play on my computer fine. When on his computer, the game gets as far as requesting login, but then the computer just turns off, somewhere between there and the character select screen.
Any ideas on how to get to the bottom of the issue? I'm fully aware I haven't posted enough info, but I don't really know what would be helpful. Thanks for any assistance you can offer,

✭✭✭✭✭I'm absolutely NOT an expert, but my first thought is that the computer and/or graphics card is overheating. That will trigger an immediate shut-off to protect the computer.0
