Returning the same mounts?

thefixerupper
I was just curious, I am rather newer to this game. I see a lot of reused mounts, outfits, and what not in this game. I have fun for the most part in this game, but how creative is this game in releasing new stuff?
I love to collect stuff, but am a little sad that there is not much to collect (mount/pet) wise in the game other than the crown store. I just feel if we are going to pay a lot of money for a mount, why re-release it? Why not create new things that feel special to that person paying the money for it?

Dumb question, I am just curious.

They recycle. So does every other game. Be selective.

Really heavy on the recycling here compared to a lot of mmos. You'll need to purchase everything from the crown store. There are no achievement mounts and very few to purchase in game. There are a few costumes for completing things but again, you will find most of that in the crown store as well. Luckily the outfit system kinda replaced costumes imo. You can buy extra outfit slots and all the different motifs in the crown store. Most but not all motifs can be earned in game...for now.

    ...why re-release it?
Because not everyone likes the same stuff, and they want to make maximum profit.
So they make, say, a wolf mount... and then reskin that for people who like to ride white wolves because it fits their "polar hunter" character idea, or black wolves because it fits their "dark assassin" character idea, or foxy-reddish wolves for those who like that and maybe next will be husky-fur-pattern wolves for the siberians...

Same for the costumes, also remember that a lot of the older costumes were done -before- the outfit system and thus the only way for people to indulge in low-level visuals. Now... those costumes are -kinda- obsoletel, though still useful sometimes for "quick wardrobe change for roleplay"...

If you want varietee, look towards the outfit system, where we get -tons- of motivs all the time. That's their latest baby, so they feed it more options for people to game for, buy in the crown store and whatnot.

The housing system is also not bad in just huw much you can get... so much that people have been groaning about the clutter limit and wished they could increase that like their bank storage...

But in the end, its always a question of how much profit they can squeeze from their investment in having people make something. And how much profit they can -expect- in the future... if they can expect people to go on buying stuff, they will go on making more and more stuff... if sales get worse, less stuff will be made I reckon, as they put their resources into something that does net them their profits.
And if they ever don't get enough profits... oh, woe to us, on that dreaded day the suits in charge will lay off the personell, pull the plugs on the servers and sell off the assets. So, lets be grateful for what we have, and hope theit investment will give them fine returns for many years to come so we can keep playing ESO... ;)
