Help! cannot rebuy standard edition on ESO message "You do not qualify"

I bought Summerset preorder (so with Morrowind) through the ESO site around March, but my 'base game' came through Steam. I want to rebuy the Standard Edition direct from ESO to finally stop using Steam login, as I was told rebuying was the only way I could keep all my account stuff while not using the Steam interface to launch the game anymore.

However, when I try to buy on ESO website, I can't add Standard Edition to my cart; the button is replaced with a graphic: "You do not qualify for this product." How can I complete the purchase?

Or failing that, how do I stop using Steam? I am part of the bunch that can't use the standalone launcher workaround I'm sure will be mentioned shortly, as I bought the game around Christmas 2016.

Afaik there’s no possible way to use anything but the steam launcher if you bought the base game through steam after that time

Why don't you stick with steam? why trouble yourself?
History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.

The previous rounds of login issues didn't impact me much and my experience has been relatively smooth. However lately, I keep getting dropped. My login is not stable and I crash out of the game. When I login it says I'm already logged in, or there's an unspecified error, and it takes multiple tries to get in. I've crashed out about a dozen times today alone.

I've seen it mentioned several times that to uncouple the Steam link, I would need to buy (at least) the base game directly from ESO using the same account then login using the steam info on the non steam launcher. At that point all my in game stuff should still be linked (chapters, etc) and I could say goodbye to Steam.

If anyone who has completed the transition could advise if they got the "not qualified" error, and how they got past it, I would be very grateful!

The instability you mention is not steam specific. I have had that happen on xbox. Even quitting the game completely and turning off the console did not work. However, the problem went away after about 30 minutes.

Hmm. I didn't buy the game from either steam or eso. I bought the Gold box from Amazon. Now, I did initially go with steam as a friend advised (should have thought several times about that really)....

However, I didn't buy the game until June of this year, and I'm able to use the eso64.exe direct from a shortcut on my quick launch bar without issue - in fact, I contacted support after so many login problems in June - and they helped me troubleshoot how to get the launcher to work outside of steam.

I would suggest you put a ticket in with support - though you might like to wait a couple of days to let the holiday get past.
