That's not too surprising when ZOS seems to want Ice to be geared towards a tanking or crowd control mode, not pure DPS.

keep in mind that the last themed ice sets came out with Orsinium when the Ice change came out with Morrowind. Where are our crowd control mode ice sets? Winterborn has a snare for a few seconds. that's soft cc. on 1 set. if you want an ice themed set for tanking you have 1 SET! Permafrost! that also came out in Orsinium. It's been years! It's only just a tanking set because it gives health recovery.

I don't know how much more it needs to be buffed in conjuction with the Destro staff passives. I won't claim to be a great Ice-themed player.

My main experience with it was Ice Staff tanking (it was okay) and I had a pretty good time snaring, slowing, and immobilizing players in Battlegrounds with an Ice staff - I didn't kill many players myself, but I slowed them down for my teammates to kill.

Here a fun question. If ice dps was more of thing. How would be different between fire, and electric?

ice staff at the moment is half dps half tanking. most sets are dps focused, most skills in ice staff are dps focused. passives are tanking and it holds up kinda awkward. most wardens who play with the ice staff do that. That's an assist bot (name of the bot category on the Frost Discord server lol). this isn't a post to talk about ice buffs. its to talk about these sets and the imbalance. and there just arent enough sets for ANY of ice's roles.

If you want to talk more specifically about this, I have that discord link down there and i'm active quite a lot.

multiple people have ideas. for the moment we are trying to make it better for tanking and DPS. So this makes it a defensive DPS with maybe enemy armor reduction to buff tanks/dps. If they make an alteration staff, we are looking at it boosting Critical Damage. but this is a discussion for sets.

I'm confused. What more is there to say about ice sets and imbalance between ice, fire, and lightning?

It exists. You clearly showed that. What more is there to say?

What discussion to you want to have here? (Thanks for the offer, but I dont do the Discords.)

Zos should alter ice to be the hybrid tanky dps at the cost of lacking the second enchant. And relying entirely on one bar move the taunt from heavy attack to the aoe elemental ring so we can have the first aoe taunt and give ice users something to brag about.

ZOS should stop trying so hard to be different at the expense of common sense. Ice should be a viable elemental dps tool. Use melee weapons for tanking, and work out some other sort of magic for tanking if wanted.

I agree. I think I say this a lot, but destruction frost magic has been for damage dealing (because it's classified under the destruction magic school) like fire and shock. Frost magic being changed for mainly tanking because ''ice is hard'' is just lame, especially considering that the change was probably made just to not have to make a new staff/other weapon skill line and to fit in with the warden class being a mainly tank-healer.

19 fire sets, 9 shock sets, and only 4 ice sets?

It's a bit ridiculous how much love frost isn't getting right now. I hope ZOS tries to remedy this in the next Chapter or next few DLC's. In the meantime, I hope our continued petitions to give frost more love are heard. It's really such a cool element ;)

Doesn't fire already do DoT and Direct tho? My idea would be for Ice to buff Crit damage.

This does not make sense. Fire buffs single target damage where shock buff AoE.
