Overland vendors stock

Really I'm quite disappointed vendors armor, weapons and jewelry stock as it is completely useless (no set, no traits) and cost too much. I do understand we can craft everything but why selling a garbage? Why not selling overland sets with Training/Healthy for jewelry traits to make stock useful (at least for low-level characters) and various?

Isn't that what guild traders are for? I mainly use vendors to sell items.

You can buy boxes in cyrodiil for random overland sets for each zone.

I can craft any set with any trait as I'm playing more that one year. I'm just suggesting someting to make stock vendors not so useless dummies.

They’re there for newbies to keep their gear up to level. It’s not like there’s any lack of enchants dropping from enemies, and tbh how many new players are going to notice the effect of traits when they start out

I think the point is that ZOS wants you doing the content where those set pieces drop ... not passively buying them from a vendor.

If it was set up that way, why even run a public dungeon for gear/weapons when you can buy them from the NPC merchant?

Because you can get overland sets from fighting enemies, quest rewards, treasure chests, delve bosses, world bosses, and public dungeons. Oh, and they are sold in guild stores too.

You really don't need to buy them from NPC vendors too, even as a new leveling player, unless you are very lazy or don't want to play the game. In which case, are you really doing content that requires set bonuses?

I don't understand how any of the overland gear vendors stay in business its all over priced white gear with no traits or anything they need to have white quality overland sets with training without enchantments of various levels up to CP140

No doubt, they stay in business the same way the grocers selling overpriced fruit compete with guild vendors do, stablemasters who get away with charging us for daily horse training, and the alchemist that can repair my max-tier highly enchanted armor (but my master crafter can't).

I mean, this is a game where I can cook any food or drink in the world by stirring a single bowl and occasionally licking my finger.

The TES games are not, needless to say, where I go looking for a realistic NPC economy.

The point of the game is for players to play the game, which bad/overpriced NPC gear and mats facilitates by giving players an option but also encouraging them to get out and craft/obtain better gear, not to create a wholly realistic NPC economy at the expense of players actually having to play the game to get the gear they want.



You want training gear quick?

Farm for guaranteed training traits on the Starter Islands.
Ask a guildmate or another player to make you training gear. Most crafters I know will make it free if you provide the mats.
Research the training trait and craft it/transmute it yourself.
Farm your set gear and hope for training trait.

All of those options require you to play the game or at least participate in the MMO part of MMORPG. Given that ESO is consistently creating longer and longer grinds aimed at getting players to play the game as long as possible, I doubt this will change.

Overhaul or remove them. As they are now is a design embarrassment.

Agreed. I can't think of a legitimate reason they exist outside of "gold sink for really new and dumb players." You can get better gear from killing a skeever.

They are just intended for the most basic items. It is no different than potions available at vendors. They are the same low quality NPCs drop when you kill them. It is not intended to be good items.
