ESO on Next Gen Consoles

I'm looking forward to 2019 and Sony has already revealed the PS5 which looks to be coming out next year. There are rumours floating around that Xbox is doing something similar. Anyway, with newer faster consoles on the horizon what's ESOs plan for progression of current characters on the future systems? The grind to 50, with lorebooks, skyshards, psijic breeches and so on is painful enough. I'd just about quit if I had to regrind every single champion point and piece of gear.

I do not recall ESO has stated anything concerning the future hardware and would not expect them to say anything this early. I would not expect any changes since the game still need to run on current generation consoles.

As for your account. That would still be the same. Your account is your account and character info, etc. is saved server side.

    listen to this dude!
"The red pill and its opposite, the blue pill, are a popular cultural meme, a metaphor representing the choice between:

Knowledge, freedom, uncertainty and the brutal truths of reality (red pill)
Security, happiness, beauty, and the blissful ignorance of illusion (blue pill)"

Insight to Agree to Awesome Ratio = 1:6.04:2.76 as of 1/25/2019

Compared to people that I've ignored = I am 18% more insightful, 20% less agreeable, and 88% more awesome.

I would imagine that you would keep your stuff as your stuff is tied to your Microsoft/Sony account, just the console would get an upgraded. Common sense, ZoS would have known that a console upgrade would happen multiple times in their game's lifespan. I am sure they have a plan in place.

No way is Microsoft releasing an even more powerful Console so soon after the One X.

Thanks. It makes sense you all are saying with just being able to pull the data from the server.

if it makes you feel any better and if next gen console data doesn't transfer, it might be time to move over to pc if that doesn't happen and enjoy the superior fps and benefit of having addons.

Nothing would change graphic wise but you would notice it performance wide. I am going off how DCUO went from PS3 to PS4, they did upgrade the graphics but this game doesn't need it since its a direct PC port, if anything they may unlock high graphic performance for the PS5 but accounts would carry over since its server side and not console side.

I don't know about the PS4 Pro but the Xbox One X already hits 60fps.

I've heard 2020 is the earliest release date being mentioned. Just search for it on YouTube and most are saying 2020.

What happened with PS3 online games that were also eventually released on PS4? Do both systems link to the same game accounts so long as the same PSN account is used? Or is that not how it works on Playstation? Do you set up a Bethesda account or does it work off a PSN user?

Except Sony hasn't revealed the PS5...

We might not even be getting traditional console generations anymore, but just iterative upgrades.

Anyhow, I'm sure ZOS will port it to the next PS/Xbox console.

What if you dont buy a ps5? But instead buy a xbox 2?

Do you think they will allow and tranfer window period like they did with pc to console? (Same with gta 5)

PS 5 and Xbox 2 is very likely to use an newer AMD CPU and GPU and be fully compatible with previous version.
ESO will be the same but will run better same as for pro versions today.

Even if they make an new eso for them it will use your existing account, and you will be able to go back to PS4 if the PS5 breaks down or similar so no account transfer unless they create this as an general tool who seems unlikely now
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I suspect it would be similar. It would alienate a lot of folk if they were to say "Hi, welcome to Xbox One Two, but you have to start all over again".

    Bugger that.
