Free Race/Name Change if passives change

So if the rumors are true and ZOS buffs/nerfs racial passives, I feel we all deserve a free race/name change bundle to compensate!!!

Many see racial changes in MMOs as being, at least partially, a tactic to shake up the meta in order to increase sales through selling race change tokens. That said, it will be very unlikely that race change tokens will just be given out.

Personally, I'd rather they increase the character cap from its current 15 to 20, which would allow 4 of each class over the current 3 of each class. However, that would probably be just as unlikely for exactly the same reason.

If there are significant changes, I'll demand at least a race change per character.

I'm not paying to re-race 15 characters (or even a portion of them).

Adapt means take your toon you spent 100hrs working on and getting gear for and make it a crafter while you do it all over again. Skyshards lore books, psjic breaches all over again! YES!!!

Just maybe you will enjoy changes. Though last year January I actually bought a race change token for 750 crowns. I I was going to change my bosmer to atlmer but changed my mind.

First, it is not a rumor. Rob Garrett has already stated they plan to make a "balance pass on racial passive abilities" See link below.

Zos did not give us a free change when they "balanced" racial passives last time so it is very unlikely zos will do so this time.

So yes, ask away but do not expect it to happen as it is extremely doubtful.

Umm. Its pretty well accepted in the mmo industry, these type of changes are made to increase sales.

Race changes are pointless to me. My characters are who they are. I’d sooner delete than race change... makes no sense.

They're going to make a fortune off of race change tokens after this. No way they give them away for free.

Expect Altmer, Dunmer, Redguard, and Argonian to be nerfed into the ground, which means every endgame player will be buying tokens to switch to the new meta races. That's a ton of revenue.

How does one adapt to numerical stat changes? One race will always be better than the rest at a specific role. Nerfing one race/buffing another one will shuft the meta to that race. If you want to continue being optimal in your role, you'll need to change race.

If past balance passes are any indication of how this will shake down, we have every reason to be worried.

Well if they will change drastically racial passives and create NEW META and BiS without giving out free tokens for race change for each char it will mean that they will want to (depending on how they change it) milk players out of real money, it is just how I feel, however if the changes will not make let's say suddenly the best stam char be Nords or something but only make it so that every race is BiS meta no matter the role you take than I will gladly buy tokens myself.

Before making any comments on what is to come let us wait for PTS and than judge what they intend to make.
We shall see what is their intent and if it is really about making all races be good and balanced.

As was suggested when race-change tokens were revealed, ZOS now has no financial incentive whatsoever to either make balanced changes, or give out tokens.

They do have a significant incentive to directly invert the current meta for races (strong to weak etc.) and tell players to pay up, or deal with it.

The thing is, most of us picked the race for the specific passives. My PvE stam dps chars are Redguard, my PvP stam dps are wood elf, my healer is argonian, my tank is imperial dk, my mag sorc and mag blade are both high elfs.

I specifically picked the race on my character because of the racial passives. It's different when they change skills because it's gold(in game) currency to fix what they decided to screw with.

However, if they start messing with racial passives as a company they SHOULD give out free race change tokens. Otherwise you're basically saying screw the community and pay real money to switch when we can do this at any time. This will actually cause them to lose players thus losing money because if they can just do this at any time, what's to stop them from doing this once a year just to have people fork out real money. It's bull.

What they should do is let us pick our racial passives like skills. If you want to make the other races that are't commonly played, then BUFF them, don't nerf and start ruining our game play.

So yes, in the end if they change racial passives they should either issue a race change per character, or they should make race changes free for a limited time. This will show the community that you value your players.

I can promise this, if they screw up the racial passives and don't give us free tokens then I'll be getting all my recent money spent on crowns back. I did this with wargaming over some issues they pulled in World of Tanks.

A lot of people, especially endgame damage dealers, pick their races purely because of their passives. Changing the "meta" races would also mean these players would have to probably start over again or buy a race change for the extremely cheap price of 20 quid (/s).

I really doubt this will happen though. Heck, at this point I wouldn't even be surprise if ZOS were balancing the races purely to make big changes and force players who have invested a lot of time into their characters to either start again, buy an item that costs almost twice than DLCs, or stick to their sub-optimal races and risk getting put on the back-burner by their hardcore PvE guild. Changing the race would also mean changing the name in some cases (like argonians and khajiit), so that's further expenses.

Sure, this is a relatively small part of the player base, and I don't think we'll see major changes, but if a significant meta shift were to happen, not gifting a race change or even putting it on sale wouldn't be a smart move and would be a hit to ZOS' reputation. We should also keep in mind that this game is published by Bethesda Softworks, and the name "Bethesda" would benefit from some customer-friendly moves, especially in these times.

Anytime they make significant changes they should compensate players with free respecifications so they can more easily adapt.
