Option To Hide/Show All Armor

Edit: to clarify, option to show/hide each piece not all or nothing.

Self explanatory, and I think it’s been asked for before. I’m bringing it up now because I recently got the crystal frost skin which looks pretty lame unless you can actually show it off and there aren’t many armor pieces that do it. And the one or two that do aren’t great imo. But it’d be cool to be able to have a shirtless ice orc warden running around Cyrodiil. But beyond that it would just be better to be able to hide any armor piece. Sometimes shoulder piece clip through armor so badly and it’s almost impossible to find one that works depending on styles.

I would be ok with more constumes and armor that offers the "sai sahan" style or more revealing looks but hiding all armor is just too immersion breaking for me. I'm by no means prudish but other mmorpgs that have something similar end up with way too many underclothed folks. Frankly I think the well-bellied male orcs in wedding dresses are funny, but a bit tiring when 20 are at a wayshrine at once...

I can see hiding shoulders and hip flaps but there is no need to hide all armor. It just becomes silly.

Why not? Sai Sahan hides his chest piece.

Thats not bad, and I have it, I just really hate the stupid scrolls and whatever is hanging off the belt. I mean ZOS is always spending at least some of their time on aesthetics, meaning it doesn't pull resources away from the more important stuff. It could be a cool customization option, so why not see if they'll do it. I just happened to notice it particularly with the ice skin, but the blood forge skin would also look cool with no armor especially on Argonians or something.

It's a valid point, I really don't want a bunch of zergs running around in their underwear and it probably would happen. But people can already run around in a nord bathing towel which isn't much better (or maybe it's worse?). And after the novelty wears off there probably wouldn't be many people bothering to run around naked beyond a few trolls. As I said above, ZOS is always focusing some energy on aesthetics, so implementing further customization isn't going to draw any resources away from important stuff.

Yes! But I guess the pants should be an excuse. Pants always on, all other pieces optional.

    As I mentioned elsewhere:
The most reasonable thing we can expect...
...is for them to sell "invisible armor" motiv pages in the crown store.

I mean, the suits in charge certainly won't send a code-jockey to spend their paid time programming the hide function for all outfit slots without wanting to see some profit, right?

But selling people the option... that would appeal to their shriveled greedy little hearts, right? :p;)

As for the lore... well, I already said it. "Invisible Armor". Enchanting your sturdy armor with an invisibility spell, to lure your foe into a false sense of security...
I mean, look at this guy:
    Sai_Sahan.png
...and that is -still- the best option we can expect.
They are unlikely to implement anything unless it looks like it could gain them extra profit.
This would gain theme extra profit - they could sell it like one of those weapon packs, or they could hide the seperate pages in grown crates, with varying rarity... like, invisible shoulder pads or belt buckles could be uncommon, boots and gloves rare, and the chest piece extra-rare... while witholding the pants part so people at least are forced to wear -something- on the battlefiend, even the worst "barbarians"... I could easily see that happening.

Yeah, where would we get if that was allowed, people would run around like drunken naked nord hobos...
    lDtdeRn.png
    ...oh. OH!
Well, it seems the point is moot already, would you not agree? :p;)
The argument was valid before the costumes, and I kinda still would wish they'd split all the costumes into "combat costumes" like armors and such, and "civilian costumes" that go "pop" when you take damage, just like disguises... or maybe make a function that sort costumed by armor "weight" and reduce your armor protection when you wear them to the costumes maximum (so a "thief leather" costume would reduce you to medium armor protection even when wearing heavy, and a "bather towel" would reduce you to "no armor")... but alas, I gotta accept that they are not likely to spend the effort coding that since it nets them no profits, so I too will grind my teeth on this and just enjoy the game as we have it.

The only way to make this less silly is to assume that ALL the costumes are in truth illusion disguises, just like happens during the Orsinium questline, remember the banter of Eveli Sharp-Arrow during the Vosh-rakh base infiltration? Then it makes sense again, and if people can dash onto the battlefield in nordic bather towels or redguard dancer silks, they can certainly apply an "turn this chainmail shirt invisible so I can show off my awesome tatoos and/or manly muscles" and then charge into battle with a new warcry of "Do you even lift, bro" and stuffs...

I think there should be a limit of 4 pieces hidden. You can choose which 4. I would run around in boots, bracers and a belt.

My mages have no use of shoulder flappers or silly hats/helmets.

A barbarian has no use for chest armor.

Some Argonians or Khajiit may very understandably want to fight with no foot/hand coverings to use their claws.

If your hips or belly are wide, you don't need no stinking belt.

I have an adorable little elf who would love to wear her mid-thigh length tunic with no pants.

My point is, give creative folks options to play how they like. As far as 'running around nekked', I think there are enough chubby orcs in pink nordish bathing towel costumes to confidently say that horse left the barn long ago. :)

That that seem to think the Nordic bath towel is the same as being able to hide all armor pieces are grasping at straws. There is a clear difference but that would only matter to those who look at the issue objectively. It does provide entertainment though.

I would be good with shoulders as well as the head option we already have, and hands/feet/shield. I'm not good with chest and legs. I really am not interested in seeing people in their skivvies.

Now that said, if it was visible ONLY to the player, not to others, that's fine. Yeah.... I got really tired of all but naked in other games.... REALLY tired. I don't want it in my face thanks.

Oh. Tasses - good LORD just get rid of them altogether already! Jeez....

People can run around in their underwear now. And after you've seen a male vampire orc in a pink bathtowel what could possibly surprise?
