Support is good and works much like the PS4 version. There are two instances where you will need kb/m; character creation and system settings.

PC, controller player here. Yes it does support controller thankfully!
Mine works quite well & is way more comfortable then the mouse and keyboard set up  You wont need to use mouse / keyboard if you don't want to, the only thing it'll be required for is the chat.

KB only.... voice chat in game is a console thing. Discord is usually used for voice.

I too use controller still on pc and it works good. Only time i have to use KBM is logging in, text chat, character select screen and other smaller things like certain addons. Still a convenient feature.

I use controller for pc. Supports good. For some Add ons you’ll need to use the keyboard/mouse user interface as some very useful addons don’t support controller. However, it’s easy enough to switch between controller and keyboard/mouse to use an addon, then back to controller to play. I’d suggest hotkeying it.

Console controller beta works pretty well with PC- though there are a few glitches that I often see:

#1. It won't let you add members into your party beyond four. (IE: in PVP/trials, I have to turn off console beta to add more members for a larger group)

#2. It sometimes shows party members online in your group after they've logged out and tried to rejoin the group as a different character.

#3. When you try to buy items at Guild Vendors- sometimes you can get infinite loading screens (not like the loading screen between zones- more like when the guild vendor screen is "searching" for your inquiry). You have to change to PC mode to actually search for a product.
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

Works pretty well. Has some quirks, though they have made some quality of life improvements over the years.

Biggest pain point for me is how the in game chat and loot windows overlap each other with the gamepad UI. It’s a huge eyesore and it gives me a headache trying to read what loot I’m getting underneath the bright yellow text of “So and so has logged on/off with so and so.”

Tons of unused screen space where the loot dialogue could be moved so it wouldn’t overlap with the default chat window. Or at least I’d appreciate the option to move my loot window within the gamepad UI.

Maybe an AddOn could fix this but gamepad specific AddOns are few and far in between.

The chat window can be placed wherever you want on screen. Just grab it with the mouse and move it where you want.

    Anyone using steamlink?
Do I have to enable the controller in the settings or is it automatically detected?

You just have to have the controller plugged in, and you’re all set.

Yea I played with that a little bit. Problem is (and I know it’s minor/picky) that I like/prefer the chat window in its default spot. For me the chat text which is up all the time is better in the bottom left corner, while loot pop ups would be better in the bottom right.

It’s all just personal preference really.

Personally, I can’t really play with a controller in “serious” game situations like PvP or group dungeons and such after 4 years of mouse and keyboard. It’s awesome for farming though.

Yes it is nice when I was just questing but the UI is horrible! I can't stand it. I only play with controller when lying in bed or in a position where mouse/keyboard is uncomfortable.

For the OP.. the UI is the same as console aside from chat window.

For me it's really great! sure, its kinda hard to use for PvP but I don't mind that much, because I play ESO casually and do PvE mostly.

I play with an XBox One Slim controller and it even rumbles when you try to unlock doors/chests. To be honest, it is a great experience. The only thing that its missing is the controller support in the menu/character controller.

I do have a tiny keyboard/touchpad but I prefer controller due to tendinitis ....

It’s been awhile since I played(played beta years ago)

    Is pvp optional or forced?

    I prefer just PvE ...

Thanks again for all your help :)

    PvP is totally optional.

And controller is great in PvE. (Mouse/Keyboard might be a little better in PvP)

Hi, I've used controller in PvE the entire time I've played on PC. I really prefer controller (mainly because I came from console and didn't want to relearn to play) but I like the PC UI a lot more. If you're interested, there is an add-on called "Advanced Disable Controller UI." It lets you use the PC UI but the controller for combat. Which is super nice for swapping gear, navigating menus, traveling, etc.
