Group of 2 being split up by BGs queue

This has happened a few times - we queue for a bg match and then one of us will get in the round and the other will still be in pve either queued or removed from queue. The only option we have is to wait while I play the whole round, or for me to leave, where I would get 20 minute penalty and we would have to wait regardless. Being able to relog to a different toon to play with them isn't the point.
Anyone else experienced this? I think it's pretty dire
