Julianos v War Maiden

What's best for a Magblade between the two. Julianos 5piece gives 288 spell damage which boosts all abilities but WM gives 400 spell damage to all magic damage abilities (which are most of NB skills).

Also using double flame staves with blockade and clench slotted, skoria and burning spellweave

Julianos is superior. Your light attacks and destro staff abilities are not magic damage, they are elemental damage and are not buffed by War Maidens.
The Unshattered - Tenacious Dreamer - Hurricane Herald - Xalvakka's Scourge - Godslayer - Dawnbringer - Gryphon Heart - Tick Tock Tormenter - Immortal Redeemer - Dro-m'Athra Destroyer
The Unchained - The Brilliant - Moth Trusted - The Just - Oathsworn - Bedlam's Disciple - Temporal Tempest - Curator's Champion - Fist of Tava - Invader's Bane - Land, Air, and Sea Supremacy - Zero Regrets - Battlespire's Best - Bastion Breaker - Ardent Bibliophile - Subterranean Smasher - Bane of Thorns - True Genius - In Defiance of Death - No Rest for the Wicked - Nature's Wrath - Undying Endurance - Relentless Raider - Depths Defier - Apex Predator - Pure Lunacy - Mountain God - Leave No Bone Unbroken - CoS/RoM/BF/FH Challenger

Same with WoE and if we are talking PvE builds then WoE should be in the build.

Back when War Maidens came out, there was a lot of testing done, and the only class that really came close to War Maiden's being superior to Julianos was with Magplar (and that was in the dual wield magplar days, running sweeps).

I have used War Maidens/Soulshine as a PvP templar build that can hit hard, when you're not as worried about sustain damage, but rather burst damage.

Yes but the point I'm making is I'm using 2 flame skills and the other 8 are magic damage so maybe WM is better ?

Just your WoE and light attacks will be ~25% of your DPS. And they are not buffed by War Maiden

You need over 72% of your dps to be from "magic damage" for WM to be better than Juli. AFAIK the "meta" PvE rotation for Magblade only is in the 60% range (this is true of all classes now)

Your enchant procs are elemental damage as well.

War Maiden would work on a Tether bomber, but otherwise you want to stick with Juli.

No, your heals are also affected by spell dmg if you play PvP. WM cannot help you with that

I don't want to admit it, because I want to run different and thematically-appropriate sets on different toons, but . . .

For the reasons expressed above, wouldn't Juli also usually beat Silks and Netch?

My new shock DPS toon is spamming force pulse, and I guess two of the three hits aren't buffed by Netch. He's also weaving light and heavy attacks, which aren't buffed. And he casts Frags when it procs---also not buffed.

Whereas my shock TANK is not light attacking with the staff, or using force pulse, or using frags. Apart from heavy attacks, all her attacks with the staff (or with sorc class skills) are pure shock damage. Seems that Netch > Juli for her. (Yes, I shock tank in Netch's  .)

My new melee MagDK "Balrog" toon . . . all weapon and class DPS skills are pure fire. Lots for Silks to buff. But still, light and heavy attacks . . . I wonder if Juli vs Silks is pretty much a wash, here.

Sounds like the other consideration is damage enchants. Buffed by Juli but not Silks/Netch?

And much as I prefer diversity across toons, Juli has the great advantages of being craftable--no farming, and it can be made in different weights.

Julianos will win out over any other of them. You need over 72% of your damage to come from the specific type, and that is very rarely the case.
