Where and how do I identify a bot

Anyway bots, you can usually spot them in their prisoner raggy clothes, with a 2-Hand sword, lvl 4, running from node to node in straight lines over and over and over.
Just please be aware - I was talking about this in zone chat when I first starting reporting bots and within two weeks no one was running them like that anymore. They were suddenly wearing different gear and wielding different weapons and not responding to the Questionable Meat bait. Botting makes some very shady people very rich and it's in their best interest to monitor how people are spotting their bots and make adjustments accordingly. You'll still see some like this for sure, because some folks get old data/paths/builds, but it's not as common (on NA/PC - consoles, I've heard, are a nightmare) as wearing costumes with pets now - because that helps them blend. You'll still see concrete evidence that no one is driving them if you follow them around a bit though, lol

Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

Oh, I agree. So I attack them, take a node or two from them, jump on them, /shout at them and call them out both in a whisper and zone chat. If you're ignoring allllll that and still able to be about your farming business without breaking character, that's bot-ty enough for me to report you and let ZOS decide, lol

Once you see a Bot Train you will recognize it as not a normal bunch of players. They all move together and do the exact same attack method over and over. Ban em all.

I was shopping guild traders in Mournhold and noticed that the same Xbox gamertag was in 3 of the 6 guilds there. They were selling hundreds of the varla stone lights that were in the luxury furnisher awhile ago. I checked their gamertag and their score was a 5. The bots are supplying and funding the guild traders. One of my guilds has been regularly sniped from under us, only to have the trader left empty for the week, forcing people to use the bot traders. A friend told me this happened to his guild as well, except it was stocked with potatoes at 1 mill. each.

Some new bots have actual creative names along with non combat pets and outfits (AKA MissJumpsAlot ) I see that one in Betnikh on Xbox NA every day while doing new life quest. Jumping in the same spot for hours where a node spawns. I’ve used a bear trap and moved them way away from where they were until eventually they came to check on their character. Which is about 30-45 minutes. I head them towards the ruins where the wolves are. Wish the bear trap wouldn’t take so long to cool down or they would be running out of soul gems. Thought about taking them to a wayshrine to do an endless travel. I’ve reported them for a week now. So far no action taken

Possibly an established account that has been sold to someone else and they are using it for botting. Yes, I am sure that some people do run their own characters with botting software to level or harvest. Bots is bots, though.

I assume it’s a new account as the profile has no years active number on it along with the character being only lvl 21 and has no quick harvest from cp points ( assumption). I may be grasping a bit. If it’s leveling they’re doing, it’s going very slow. They’ve been lvl 21 for a week now. They’re at the same spot every day jumping up and down on the same node for hours at a time or when I haven’t pulled them down the road. Also several bot farmers in stros m’kai just north west of port hunding wayshrine. Several of them camped out on each node around that area. It’s getting harder to farm for materials as it seems that bot farming is getting worse

I'm also on Xbox and I've seen a similar "jumping" bot in Bethik, somethnig like "He who jumps". There are also clusters of spam sorcs in northwest Alikr near Ancestors Landing. I've reported them to ESO and Xbox every chance I get. They eventually disappear in a day or two, only to be replaced by new characters doing the same thing.

I've been told that they are getting in because when you create a new xbox account, you get free xbox gold and Gamepass for a limited time. If they get banned, they just create new accounts and continue what they were doing for free. If ESo wasn't on Gamepass, they would have a harder time getting in because it wouldn;t be free. I know this is only a partial solution. ZOS needs to step up and do something about this rapidly growing problem.

It’s MissJumpsAlot in Betnikh I took them for a walk down the road with the bear trap momento.
The other one must the the group that stands on the shore and draws in crabs? I’ve reported some there several months ago.
Now it’s also that area in Stros M’Kai where all the nodes are around that big cliff. They have a bot on every node in that area. They stopped using crazy numbers when they create new characters now. But jumping up and down in the same place for hours isn’t blending in very well. Lol.

On Xbox Eu in deeshan (mournhold) there’s a bot account that’s got a trader at the moment! Right in the centre . It’s full of grains and there’s only 1 seller. The guild name is terrible as Is the only person selling name tag - It’s a terrible situation tbh

In Mournhold ! Wow, those trader locations are bid really high. At least on Xbox NA they’re pricy. Hopefully no one is buying from them. That’s just helping them keep their location and causing the cost of dues in guild traders to continue to rise.
I wish that ESO would respond (and do something) to the complaints that are filed on these bots.

On xbox NA, the same bot character that belong to 3 of the 6 guilds in mournhold, also has a character in 2 of the 6 guilds in rawlka.
Look for purple furnishing lights, specifically the varla stones. One is "x mournhol x" and the other is "x rawlka x". Both have a Gamerscore of 5 and yet "somehow" manage to sell hundreds of these luxury furnishing lights. I haven't even gotten around to checking the other major guild trader spots, but I bet you will find variants of the "x (city) x" name. All are fake account farmers.

And just in case the Moderators want to get me for "name and shame", Prove me wrong! Maybe they will finally acknowledge the bot problem then.

I’ll have to look in those traders just for curiosity.
I watched some farmers in Stros M’kai last night. They have a specific path they stay on. Even if the node has been taken or hasn’t spawned yet, they still stop in that spot facing the rock formation for a brief moment before heading to the next spot. Several in that area and wearing slave clothes. I’ve seen them not collect the node if it spawns as they’re leaving. They just walk right over it.
And people wonder why guild trader dues are so high and the cost of items as well.

Yeah, when bot farmers are stocking, manning and financing multiple major guilds, real regular players don't stand a chance.

I love the generic response of how to block the player instead of taking action. Too bad there isn’t a way that the nodes could be programmed to just spawn in random locations instead of the same spot.

The problem is not bots per se, but the fact that they destroy the economy of the game.

I'm fairly certain that means they are the problem then. But I agree that ZOSs automated response is both ironic and useless since they have yet to take any real steps to solving this problem or even comment and acknowledge it.

Who played at the start on the PC can confirm what the problem was the countless number of bots just a few days after the release of the game. When you saw a resource, and ran to it, a bot appeared out of the air, got a resource and disappeared. And it was everywhere, as was the dominance of spam from gold sellers in the chat.
When I left to play the console in the first couple of years there were no bots at all, and now their army is increasing and increasing, because the basic version of the game for the console is very cheap, and the ZOS does nothing to restore order.
Previously, the owners of the bots were content with the farm of wolves and crabs - because of this, the price of gold wax dropped by 15-20% across the guildstor, now they farm ore and jewelry.
Several times I watched the bot at the jewelry station for several hours - imagine how many resources it received in a cheat way!

I saw a small bot train in Reapers March yesterday (PC/NA) - probably one player with a few bots in tow, piling on to any creatures found. Normal-looking character names, oddly. Not really worth my time to report though.

History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.

There’s a group of bot farmers on Xbox NA in Auridon at the Glister Vale area. They farm the wolves there. I’ve reported them multiple times since February 2018. They’re still farming there. Occasionally I see some in Alik’r running the dolemans. Like it’s not busy enough there. Odd thing is, they end up with most of them dead before the doleman is finished. Of course the character of choice is Sorc. It’s kind of entertaining to watch the ones in Stros m’kai run into the walls and rock formations and just stand there for a few seconds before continuing on their programmed route. If you get the nodes before they get there they still stop at those spots and stand there.

Forced myself to try to finish the Cadwell’s quests. Finally started on the gold which took me to Camlorn and the bot farmers have taken over the whole area so much that trying to do the quest was taking longer than it should have. Fighting bots over trying to save a werewolf to turn back into a person was like playing tug of war. Groups of sorcs with twilights flapping everywhere in that area.
