vMA on Magicka Warden, how hard can it be? (+Full Video (606.5k+))

So I decided to return to Maelstrom after a little break, and decided to take to recording after a long time, and first idea was, how hard can it be on Magicka Warden? Full score runs are a rarity unfortunately, but I decided to do just that, so hopefully you'll like it and maybe learn some strategies I've been using personally. Enjoy

Yeah it is pretty solid for vma. Good survivability and whilst dps isn’t as high as other magicka classes you don’t need it to be very high for vma. I usually bring the bear, but might try your skill load out. :)

What is your gear and champion points on your magden? Right now I'm using plague DR weapons/jewelry, necro, and shadowrend monster and stuck on the final boss, final fight, final phase lol. I can't seem to get him down past that last 150k health there's just too much crap going on that my character just gets over run despite using every sigil available in the final phase.

I'm trying to clear for the first time, so I dont have any maelstrom weapons atm. I do have a regular inferno asylum staff though. I can't melt past the mechanics like the video which is making this agonizingly painful atm lol. I've gotten to the third phase of the final boss fight many times but just can't seem to kill him fast enough despite using all the sigils that I saved for the end. Lol :,(

Well looks like you have a really good memory and are very proactive . Im seeing stuff die as soon as it spawns that i run in circles killing.
    And you have good dps.

I am pretty sure the deadroth didnt even spwan on the first phase of last boss your so quick.

    Great job.

If you don't have Maelstrom Lightning or Inferno staff, what i recommend doing with your setup is to use 5 x Mother's Sorrow (3 jewelry pieces and 2 body), 5 x julianos (3 body pieces and front/backbar staves to ensure you have 5 piece bonus active at all times) and a monster set of choice. For the monster set you can use Valkyn Skoria, as it adds some health and good for damage as well, or you can use 2 separate pieces, for example, Valkyn + Ilambris, or something else.

Edit: Just a quick note, the setup I use in the video was just an experiment, and is not what I use now. When I'll have enough patience to record another run, I'll do it with the current setup, and of course there will be runs on other classes as well ^^

the final stage is really not about dps. I struggled running my standard glass cannon, so i went tankier HA build (plague doctor+Skoria+mothers sorrow) for final phase, pulling only about 15k dps. The trick i found was to save my ultimate, kiting the adds and other craziness and try group it around the boss then drop the destruction ultimate at the very last phase, when the boss was around 30% health. It helps to keep an eye on what happens after the crystal phase, as that timing made all the difference for me. GL

    Nice vid OP.

Magden is my favourite class to run vma with. You're basically guaranteed a spot on the ladder and it's super easy.
    I used to run 5 Julianos, 3 WIllpower, Iceheart + MA/Asylum staff.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

This is what annoys me about VMA. It's so much about memorizing spawns and it overly-rewards DPS and killing enemies as they spawn. The first time I ran VMA it was heart-pounding excitement because I went in blind, but now it's so boring and scripted.

You're right though, OP has this down and it's impressive to watch someone with such tight control.

I appreciate the added advice, last night I finally cleared it. Was definitely no score run for me, but was pretty stoked afterwards.

I went with 5pc julianos (armor), 5pc Necropotence(weapons infused/jewelry spell dmg glyphs on jewelry), and 2pc shadowrend. I changed my mundus to Apprentice (at this point my character had about +3100k in spell damage lol), I had the Mage active for most of the arena prior to the last arena. My blue CP was 31 in elfborn, 64 elemental expert, 49 spell erosion, 9 staff expert, 56 in MAA, 61 Thaum. I'm not even completely sure this cp placement is even optimized in the way I used it, but I did have quite a few different skills slotted.

I brought the bear out for the final fight again and gave it another shot and was pretty shocked I got it done with the bear slotted over the destro ult. Perhaps my timing was terrible with the way I was grabbing the sigils or maybe I was more proactive in paying attention to the mechs there. Prior to the final boss fight in MA, I was using 5pc plague doctor weapons and jewelry and 5pc Necropotence armor in all the other arenas. The final boss ice phase was giving me a lot of trouble for a while too, everything else wasn't nearly as bad for me at least.

I completely forgot to mention the mundus. There are 2 options really. If you're new to vMA, you can go with Lord, as it gives you additional health, but, if you're in need of damage, you should always go with lover, as some bosses and adds have 18.2k resistances.
