A couple years ago I would have, and did. During the past couple years it has become more clear that Zos is very inconsistent in how they manage the game which has driven some I know away.

That might change since Garrett has stated they are now working to "codifying our vision and long-term strategy for combat". My thought is finally after all these years. If they truly create a vision and stick to such ideals then we might begin to see something good come of it. If it is merely nothing more than empty words, as they have used the term "vision" before then we will see more of the same.

Vision and reality have two very different definitions.

I still, and will always recommend ESO as an MMO. Previously i would have recommended other mmos like TSW or wildstar or even LoTro but honestly i think this is the best MMO so far in terms of content and combat systems, regardless of how many complaints on it.

Too many people play MMOs like Mobas or online co-op games. and too many people play the game expecting no changes either. Its a no win situation for the devs or the players alike.

I recommend it to people who are just like me - looking for a fun MMO where you can level slowly while figuring out the overall thing. I've already had a couple of people start playing and having fun.

Yeah, I tend to not point them to the forums....

I very much agree. I would say Zos was confused but think they chose their words out of convenience.

If players choose to find a guild and make some friends online, they can play the game for years. Most people want a game that isn't "completed" within a month I think. This game keeps them busy, they can choose their own path and their own pace and just for those reasons I will recommend this game to friends.

It all depends on what kind of people/players you recommend the game to. Hardcore players or some more casual types who want to run around and chat.

At my age I don't have any RL friends etc who play games, they've all moved on in one way or another, but I can think of quite a few from our earlier gaming days who would have loved ESO and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone (unless they were pure PvPers with no interest in PvE and for whom I think there are more suitable games). I have tried to get my son to play it but he just doesn't have the time. He's watched me playing it, however, and as a TES fan who played EQ2 with me he likes the look of it.

No, I tried to have 11 options and got an error creating it. I removed the last option, but I think it remained, and caused it to fail.

Between poor performance, predatory sales practices, and the way the company flat out doesn't listen to its customers on a plethora of issues I no longer recommend this game to new players.I'm invested in it and have a lot of friends here which is why I stay. But I think it's a very poor bargain now and can't in good conscience encourage new people to invest in it.

Khajiit would say welcome, enjoy the sights and sounds.

Take your time, go to parties, find a small home you like.

Loot every wardrobe, pick every flower, start your crafting research early.

But keep your paws away from the crates yes for only disappointment and apex mounts lie within.

Normally I ask what they're looking for in the game and give an honest answer.

If it's TES stories and lore or interesting group PvE for casual play I say go for it.

If it's competitive end game PvE or PvP I warn them of the issues but say they can give it a go and see for themselves, the base game is so cheap now it's hardly a loss.

I WARN people against starting this game. Seriously. The one person I did encourage to play, stopped after a week because Final Fantasy added some new content. He told me he’d come back to ESO after. I told him, if he found any measure of satisfaction from gaming at ALL; then find something else to play. After all, he’s not that invested. I wish I weren’t. ESO doesn’t PERFORM well...and that’s aggravating and mutes whatever joy can be had playing the game at ALL.

    Always!

Like it was said before, the only thing i dont recommend is coming to the forum before playing and experiencing ESO for some time, or at least be prepared for some toxicity, which is a known issue with all game forums.

I have 2 friends who like TES games and lore. Both hate MMO (so do I, actually). I was first to try ESO, and I recommended it to my friends. Both are playing now. We all still hate the fact it is an MMO, but we love all other aspects of ESO. If someone will ask me about ESO, I will recommend it.
