Add-ons for Consoles

I wholeheartedly believe that console players are at a disadvantage in comparison to PC players due to the lack of add-ons.

Not to take away from the individual skill level from any player, because I understand that it takes work to pull the numbers that some people are.

From what I gather it's the consoles themselves that prevent the add-ons. A simple solution would be to have them inbuilt into the game.

Khajiit beleives that this will never happen. This one understands that addons are produced by third parties via ESOTUI who are not a part of ZOS or Bethesda. Because of this Khajiit thinks that it is most unlikley that ZOS would provide inbuilt addons as this would defeat their model of relying on third parties to produce the addons that the ESO community wants. If ZOS provided all the features and functionality of every exisiting addon on ESOTUI within the game, ESOTUI would become null and void. But this would be so much work for ZOS yes? This is why Khajiit thinks that it will never happen!

lack of add-ons? How about lack of PTS, tools, customization, text input, community, TTC.
Though you have RDR2, with awesome horse physics  This is a fair exchange.

That is true but there is no current market for consoles so it's not really stealing someone's market.

Or they could just open it up to the same developer. They releases mods in Skyrim, surely it wouldn't be too hard to do a similar thing in Eso

OP is correct that PC does have an advantage due to the add-ons.

What OP may not know is ESO had a good start to a normal MMORPG UI early in the game. They ditched this for a basic no frills UI that you see now, minus the buff/debuff tracker added about a year ago.

Just before this game launched the lead developers stated it was always their vision for us to get our information instead of a UI. (it was really one of several changes Zos made in an attempt to appease the TES fanboys) However, Zos could never get the visual effects of buffs and debuffs to work correctly. They would end early or late and often would get obscured by other effects.

The addition of the buff/de-buff tracker to the base UI was an admission that they failed to get the game working properly for their "vision" to work properly.

In the end Zos saves a lot of money not having to worry about a full featured MMORPG UI so I doubt Zos will be very concerned about our desires they actually implement one again.

    And the faceless troll appears.

I'm fine as is, but I would absolutely love the combat metrics add-on. I theorycraft a lot and would like to be able to see where the damages and buffs are going.

How can they be at a disadvantage when they don't play against one another? Don't try to frame this as an argument about fairness or something like that. If you want add-ons, spend the money for a desktop.

Stop playing online games on console. Pay even more to buy a decent desktop.

If there is something you take issue with, there are ways you could remedy it instead of talking like you are a victim here. Same with the people who make senseless posts about PC players somehow being beta testers for console. They can also switch to console if they think consoles have it better.

As i switched from console to pc after 3 years, i think im pretty much spot on when i say that the game is completely different with add ons.

Saying that, none of the add ons actually make you really any better at the game, its more a time saving ability ie skyshards, lorebooks etc.

TTC is a great add on though, no more spammed chat looking for a price.

We don't need add-ons (and we won't get them), but we need ZOS to update their base UI to bring some of the good ideas created as PC add-ons to the game.

You can't play with the PC players, so you're not at a disadvantage compared to them.
If the different platforms could mix with each other, then your statement would be valid, but as it is, you are on level playing ground with your other console cohorts.

    I don't know.

There wasn't really any reason for them to disable the modding code as console users can't reach the mod directories.

In theory they could use the api as a really cheap way to do some of the UI improvements we keep begging for, things like said combat metrics.

At a disadvantage? I don't feel that way at all. The presence of add-ons - most of which sound like cheats and EZ mode crutches to me - is among the reasons I have little interest in playing this game on a computer. Not the main reason, certainly, but among the reasons.

I shared this thought process and in complete honesty, is why I stay away from PvP even after I moved from Xbox NA to PC NA. However even after the move, I still play with gamepad/console mode. So I still play like I would on Xbox but with a few add ons such as skyshards, lorebooks, combat metrics, and skill bar closet (which is my fav by a mile). However in honesty, I could play the entire game without a single add on and it would not bother me one bit.I played for two years on console without them and enjoyed the game enough.

Why I moved from console was the WAIT TIME and the access to PTS. When new content dropped, I was tired as a console player of not being able to touch the product for 6/7 weeks. When new content drops now, I can play it as soon as they release it on PTS and see about the changes for myself, rather than having to listen to others point of view. Secondly, PTS is by far so underrated of a tool for PC. Not only do you get access to new content/sets almost as soon as they drop but you have access to test out a wide variety of things in game. Want to test out a build? On console, I would have to grind the equipment and test it out. On PC, I open up the boxes and test it out. However this applies to so many other things other than theorycrafting DPS builds. If a new house is released? I jump on and see the house for myself. I get to decorate the house and see how things can look. A new skin drops with the new DLC or in the crownstore? I get to see what it actually looks like. A new furniture pack? I get to test it out. And if I find something I like, whether it is a build or a furnitie pack or a skin… I can then farm/buy the item I like on my real account. Makes like SO much easier and allows you to test things with far more freedom than I ever could on console.

Add ons? Yeah, PC has them but for me, the wait time and access to PTS are the major reasons I moved.

I just want Buff and Debuff timer bars.

I don't care about combat metrics as much, though it would be nice, but I can live without it. I just want improved ability trackers so I can actually perform at my best rather than guessing when certain things need to be refreshed.

They cant get the base game to work correctly on either platform. Pc works better than console of course. But bringing addons to console opens another whole can of worms for our broken port of the game. Would rather them fix PVE/PVP stability and performance than add that right now.

We can wish for add ons but honestly, the PC people have the one up on us Consolers and its sad that we all can't have the SAME THING and play happily. I remember when I first played ESO I saw someone on a Tiger Mount ... I SO wanted that mount come to find out,... PC ONLY. Such is life.
