How to improve responsiveness in pvp

When in intense pvp fight the responsiveness goes down even when I am using good hardware (Intel i7-7700K and Nvidia 1070).
For example I have to double tap some key commands before they are received by the game engine. Sometimes the skills are not being triggered despite hitting the respective keys and being able to move around without problem (to see i am not being hindered). Are there any ways to improve the responsiveness / fps in pvp? I am using PC.
It kind of takes the bread and butter away from the breakfast when the game does not work when the actual content is happening.
